Are the kids invited or do they just drop in and start playing? I don't know any parents who NEVER let kids into their homes but some people are not comfortable with running an 'open door' house yet they host playdates on an invitation-basis. People like that should not let their children go to other homes uninvited if the policy at their home is more 'closed door".

HA!!!!
THANK YOU FOR ASKING!

I want to know too.
I have a friend ??? that does the same thing. She even invites herself over to play lets her kid eat his snacks all over my furniture and wipe his hands on the glass, while my kids are snacking at the table, and have their hands wiped before they exit the table. (I"m not one of those crazy neat freak moms- I have 3 kids aged 2 and under so I get messes)

Get this then she tells me that she feels so comfortable at my house because it is just as disorganized as hers. Did she just say my house is messy?? I have 3 babies, she has one, who is messing up my house.

No I never get invited over there either.

I think it is because she has a crazy house and I think it is messy and I think she is so interested in the illusion that she's got her 'stuff' together. She's the same mom who swears she doesn't let the kid watch tv, but he and she knows all of the disney channel lineup and characters.

It is such a relief to hear that this happens to other people and I'm not just being catty... or maybe I am.

GOOD QUESTION!!

My little girl is only one so I'm not at that point yet. I could see why that would happen. They let their kids go to other peoples houses; because it gives them a break. They don't let other kids come over to their house because they don't want to deal with the extra people around. They may have a dirty house, or not like having company over.

I would LOVE to tell my kids that no one can come over but.....it isn't fair. I can tell you that I don't like the noise of other people's children. I prefer peace and quiet. Some of my kids friends seem to have sticky fingers and things go missing once in a great while. I can understand not letting other kids come over but I would never do that.

I am usually the house that my childrens friends come to also, I myself don't mind all the craziness, but my one friend is a neat freak, and she and her husband loose it when the kids make a mess in there house ( my children do not go over there) I think you should just be pleased that children feel happy to be at your house, its probably the safest place for them, maybe your childs friends parents are neat freaks, BUT when you do have other children over, make sure BEFORE they leave, that they help tidy up whatever mess was made, so that your child doesn't have to do it all him or herself..

No, I'm not one, but I know a few I wish I didn't know..

I'm like.. the place where people dump their kids to play. But NO ONE ever takes mine.. I have kids here spending the night, but I can't ship em home.. cause they're only 3..

Besides.. I don't think I would even want my kids going over to those people's houses.. they obviously leave them there at your place (and mine) because they don't want to look after them.. why would I want to send my kids there?

So, I suck it up and complain to my hubby later.. but atleast my kids have friends.

I guess it's because they cant be bothered dealing with another kid in the house. I'm NOT one of those parents. There are kids here ALL the time : )

I AM ONE OF THOSE! i hate a disorderly house. as a solution, however, we built a pool house (16x32) that we furnished and ran heat and air to... it has 2 lofts and 4 beds... THAT is where the kids keep their friends while they visit... in the pool, or the pool house! but we only put it in 2 years ago... so before that the kids NEVER had friends inside my house for play!

Either they are very house proud and don't want the mess in their house or the complete opposite they are embarrassed about their house, or they don't have a lot and can't afford loads of toys for the kids.
I don't have a lot, well, except a house full of other peoples kids, including my own and loads of noise, but we love it!!
