Well my natural hair color is very dark brown and I usually dye it a dark red like an auburn, mahogoney or black cherry. And I get so many compliments on the it because the red color really catches the light. Also if you don't want to go too drastic, you can just put some subtl highlights in.

I have this experience............ my natural hair color is brown
two years ago I dyed my hair goldy blonde and i have been keeping it up ever since. Tomorrow is my big hair appointment because i have decided the blonde was WAY to much. I mean EVERY month i had to get it redyed because my roots were so noticeable so tomorrow im putting three shades of color in my hair: my natural (brown) and light brown and a light blonde because i want it to be a little bit of blonde, and lighter but still my natural hair color at the same time. That is what i would go for. Just go for a little lighter or darker but not totally a different color. Good Luck! Hope this helped!

Why do you want to dye it another color? Dark brown is pretty. Just get you some shampoo or something to make is shine. Dyeing ruins your hair anyway.

Ask your hairdresser for natural looking partial highlights - that would blend with your hair, eye and skin tones. Tell her you don't want anything brassy, or on the orange side. (A full set of foil hights is way too much.)
I have dark brown hair, with a few caramel highlights, and it looks very natural - and I feel like its a nice change for me. Just don't try anything yourself - leave it up to a hairdresser. My daughter tried to dye hers, and well - let's just say it was a disaster.

Try lightening it up a bit. Not to much. If you go from dark brown to bright blond, It might not really look good. Yet you want a different color so try to lighten it up enough. But still not to much. Or blond highlights, I did that. Looks cool. : D peace

I recommend taking it slightly lighter...then if your ready to go lighter after that, do it again. You may have to wait a couple weeks between colorings though, but take it slowly and don't jump to a drastic color. Also, highlights may look really pretty too!

I would recommend dying it an intense black, so black it looks like it is blue. It is my belief that the darker the hair, the shinier and healthier it looks.
