For my wedding, I would like to have old hollywood glamour sort of theme ( hollywood in the 1930s/40's) . For colors, I want to go with black, white, and champangey gold. For flowers, I would like to use simple but elegant cahla lillies, and gardenias floating in bowls with tealights at the reception. The bridesmaids gowns would be black, strapless and satin for my own gown I was thinking something very simple and elegant like this:http://a1000.g.akamaitech.net/f/1000/806/12h/images.theknot.com/GownDesigners/augustajones/knagjns06jolim.jpg
My question now is what do you think, could you offer any suggestions, where should the location be? I would like to have a formal sit down dinner, and have the wedding outdoors in the late afternoon/early evening. I live in the SF Bay Area with in driving distance of San Francisco and Napa

That sounds beautiful! Also quite expensive, but if you can pull it off, more power to you! One suggestion though, instead of white, you may want to go with ivory. It will look better with the gold. Definitely do a formal sit down dinner, or if you were going to do it late afternoon you could do stations to keep the guests mingling. It's still substantial food, but not a full meal, since it's so early in the day, still. Ask your caterer about it. You may also want to consider renting a yacht for the reception, how amazing would that be? Out on the SF Bay by the Golden Gate? That's all the suggestions I have, unfortunately it's been quite some time since I've been out there. Congratulations!

It really depends on how many people you want. With our guest list we had to go up to Sonoma (not many places in the city can accomodate 300 people!). The one thing about that area - wineries in Napa County apparently can't have weddings. It is some kind of local ordinance. But all the surrounding counties and cities are okay. We got married at BR Cohn - www.brcohn.com - and what really attracted us to it was that it's a pretty space but at the same time we were able to completely transform it into our theme.
Some other outdoor wedding sites that I've seen that were really great - the Dunsmuir house, Kohl Mansion. I found a bunch in this magazine called Wedding Sites and Services - I think it's at www.weddingsitesandservices.com - and also just by googling outdoor wedding sites sf and things like that. Good luck!

Sorry, I don't know of any places out there, but I think that is a really nice theme you have going on. Just be sure to talk to your fiance about the theme you would like to go for. Make sure that if you both agree to this, you keep an open mind to his ideas as well.
Keep your tables to the same glamour era, and even name your tables after stars of the 30's/40's to give it that much more charm -- you could also name the tables after big movies as well. For souveniers you could also look into frames with photo reels on it and say something like, Our love is reel... You could always ask people to attend the wedding in 30's/40's outfits...
Take a glamour shot with your fiance for your table when you come in (when you choose a place)... just some ideas.

Everything you have planned sounds gorgeous and that dress looks really amazing. Some people would consider black bridesmaid dresses to be too much but with your theme it will look truly elegant.
As for the venue you could possibly do the whole day at one of the Napa wineries. I'm not exactly sure which to recommend but I'm sure that a lot of them are set up to do this because it's a great way for them to market themselves. E&J Gallo is one in the Napa Valley that would be really nice I think.
One other suggestion, instead of doing regular old table numbers to mark the tables, try table names made from the Hollywood stars of that era or the big films.

That sounds beautiful....My colors are also black, white and my girls will have red roses and I will carry white calla Lilly's....I grew up in the bay area I wish I knew where you were and maybe I could help come up with some venue ideas. Maybe you can sit down with your hubby to be and have him explain what he is envisioning and then you do the same and maybe you can find a way to pull both ideas in together...it sounds beautiful but remember it is his day too. I found my fiancee is a visual person and he wasn't to thrilled with the colors I wanted so I found pictures of other weddings that were similar to what I was thinking. After seeing what I was talking about he jumped right on board! Good luck.....

Have it at a vineyard! It would be outdoors, very romantic and clasic and it would go well with theme and your italian heritage.
Love the theme and your choice of gown, However, people might be confused as what is the dress code..... can someone go as Marilyn Monroe?
Some vinieds also cater to weddings and have restaurants that can accomodate yoru guest indoors or under a tent.
Congratulations and good luck

Go to www.vsattuiwinery.com They have an awesome outside courtyard where you can get married and then the reception is in thewinery building. It would totally work with your theme. Its a beautiful place and not too far from the bay area, its in St. Helena. I wanted to get married there but I ended up moving to Florida!
Good luck! Its sounds like your wedding is going to be awesome!

I like your idea! Why not look at some movies from the 1930s and 40s and see where those wedding scenes are held?
You might also consider renting a movie studio or a theater-in-the-round or studio theater. (A proscenium theater might not work here, unless the seats are removable.)
A local wedding planner or wedding magazine might suggest some sites. Good luck and God bless!

sounds like you need to get real. Focus on the marriege, not a big, tacky wedding. Also, what does he want? He gets a say too and if it were my husband, he would have ran at the hollywood part.

Go for it!! Hopefully you will only do this once. Go all out. I am having a masquerade ball for my wedding. I think guests will enjoy going to a different wedding rather than the traditional wedding. Best wishes!!!
