I think you've had some good answers. Stress is caused when we feel out of control or are living up to someone else's expectations. Work from there.
I must protest at the people who recommend cannabis. THIS WOULD BE THE WORSE THING YOU COULD DO!!!
Cannabis causes stress, psychosis, paranoia, delusions, anxiety etc etc. Added to which, it can bring on schizophrenia if you are genetically biased. (A cannabis user is three times more likely to develop schizophrenia than a non-user)
In my experience, 98% of long term hospitalised mental health patients in the UK have been regular cannabis users.

I highly recommend trying out Light and Sound devices, as they remove the need for you to be able to focus and concentrate.
The Mindlab Proteus and Mindspa are two good ones.
The way they work is by brainwave entrainment - scientifically well documented since the 50s.
Brainwave entrainment works thus - a flashing light &/or beating sound at certain frequencies that match different brainwave frequencies (beta = normal waking conciousness; high beta = stress, fear, anxiety; Alpha = relaxation, creativity; theta = intense relaxation, hallucination, dreaming sleep; delta = deep sleep, not even dreaming) when effectively done, causes the brain to follow it and produce the same brainwave frequencies.
The details are a little more complex than that, but that's the basic idea.
Both the Mindlab Proteus and the MindSpa come with preset programs thoroughly clinically researched and ideally suited for a variety of mood changes, including stress reduction, inducing deeper sleep, waking up so you feel invigorated, etc, etc.
All you do is put on the headphones, and the sunglasses like visor and close your eyes, and select and run a program. Then let it do its thing. A Google search should reveeal plenty of further info and people selling them.
Alternatively, if you want something more that comes from within, than a gadget, then try learning NLP - I recommend one of the Practitioner seminars at http://www.paulmckenna.com/ listed under NLP training. Or if you have more money to spend, call them and find out about Richard Bandler's 3 day personal enhancement workshop. He's the founder of NLP in the 70s & he only does one a year, and you've missed this year's unfortunately, but there will be another one next summer probably.

It all depends on what kind of stress. How old are you -teen stress can lead to severe depression and usually self harm Teen stress can remain gastrical, you cant have the foods your freinds eat. So you have to change your diet, maybe temporarily and maybe not but it is mostly fried foods. Deal with your stress by pin pointing what causes this stress. This will work for adult stress as well.
Try to pin point your stress makers, some things just piss us off but some things we get so passionate about we lose it, unfortunately once you blow everything is suddenly wrong.
remove yourself from the situation that is causing the stress. There is more pride in standing up ina business meeting and saying excuse me for a moment and walk out. Take a moment, if someone comes after you just be upfront, I didnt like the conversation or I didnt like the movie whatever Walk away from what stresses you. If its someone you love, loving them but being apart is healthier for you. Thats all that counts

Deep breaths. A long nap. A really good cry. A lot of water. A really good comedy. A really nice and satisfying love making session. A jacuzzi soak. A big bottle of wine after the love making and jacuzzi slips you into a nice state of nirvana! Lying on a hammock under a tree when it is 80 degrees. Go swimming in a really cold pool after sitting in a sauna. Get a full body massage.
All of the above!
**Oh, forgot the thing that works the very best for a stress buster...praying. Once you lay all the worry on HIS shoulders life is a whole lot easier!

10 Ways to Control STRESS
Paul J. Rosch, MD, president of The American Institute of Stress, offers these do-it-yourself tips:
1. Set realistic goals and priorities and identify those things you must do first.
2. Organize your time in accordance with those priorities.
3. Learn to say “No” when asked to do something stressful.
4. Recognize that some stress is unavoidable—it’s part of life.
5. Make a list of stressful situations in your life.
6. Divide the list into things you can’t avoid or control and things you can hope to influence.
7. Use your time and talents effectively to address those stressful situations you can change.
8. Don’t waste your energies in a frustrating attempt to conquer what you can’t control.
9. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, solicit solutions, and share your problems with others.
10. Do allow yourself time out—to enjoy personal interests or just to smell the roses.

Excercise. When I get really stressed, I make myself run a lot. It wears out my body to the point where the stress just kind of leaks out.
Also, I cry. I tend to bottle up my emotions a lot... hence my stress. When it gets too bad, I just go to a private place and let it all out.
You could also go to a therapist if nothing works for you. I know several people who need counseling because of stress related issues. You'd have to get a good counselor to actually get something good out of it...
But anything is worth a shot if it will help you in the long run =)

if your stressed out yoga and buddism doesnt work because they remove you from the problem. Face the problem. Do things you like, take a break from whatever it is and hand out with friends or family. Go get a massage, take a bubble bath, do some art, or smash some plates. Works for me:)

Sex happens to be about the most emotionally stabilizing fix you can find. However if your looking for a cure meaning full relationship, feeling of shelf worth and purpose are necessary. Also try other forms of emotional release like martial arts. Hitting things is remarkably relaxing as it allows you to channel all that aggression(snappiness) into something productive(exercise).

Practice not stressing, come to the acception that stressing does not make the situation better or go away. Think what is the worst that could happen, prepare yourself and deal with the situation. Praying helps to!!
