Dear 2befree - your moniker says it all - if you are truly free then your hair color is naturally what you were born with. If you want to experiment - it's okay. But keep in mind - we don't have a clue as to how "dark brown skinned" you might be. I mean - you may be a candidate for BLONDE and many flavors of blonde, or you might not be. What I would do - is - go the the nearest Beauty store (sells hair color, wigs, etc.). Talk to an employee - they should be knowledgeable about these things. Check out a few boxes of hair color. Keep in mind - they show you that if your hair is natually black - and you are trying to go 'red' , etc. it won't happen. Many times you have to 'bleach' the natural hair first, so the follicles will be open and receive the new color. It is a tedious process and once you start coloring your hair - take it from someone who knows - you will change the pattern and texture of your natural hair. You must - I repeat - MUST keep your hair conditioned! Deep conditioned! So, think about it completely and weigh your options - do you really want to color your hair??? (there are permanent and temporary colors that wash out)

What color is your hair, as well? In Style, in July, had an article stating that anyone could try being blonde, but don't go that route. Try a coppery-red or just copper in general. However, more than likely, a deep shade of red will complement your complexion. However, a dark skinned girlfriend of mine got coppery highlights, and they looked awesome too!

Hmm. You don't want anything too light or else it can make you look really fake and possibly sallowish. I would stay to the darker colors. Brown, darker reds, and possibly thin blond highlights. You can also try looking at your hair to find your natural highlights. You may be surprised to find a certain color that you didn't know was there. You can also just play up your natural highlights by adding highlights of that color. That would look nice. ~

Honey Blonde because I'm dark brown as well and I have honey blonde streaks. It makes my skin glow like I'm a star. Don't do the red, it darken our skins.

I would say to get streaks in your hair to try out what looks best but myself i like deep reds for that type of complexion. Or If you dontlike streaks get your tips done and if you dont like it that much you can just snip it out as your hair grows longer.

I'd probably go with anything white. White tends to look great on people that are tanned. I'd probably stay away from brown since you're already dark.
