It is odd that some people try to answer your question by referring to the "man of sin" reference in 2 Thes. 2:3 or some other passage where the word "antichrist" is not even used.

Some say the word "man" in the phrase "man of sin" shows this could only be a male, but in this verse the word "man" comes from a Greek word that refers to a human being, either male or female. A more precise English translation would be "person of sin".

Second, the word "antichrist" does not appear anywhere in the letters to the Thesselonians, nor the book of Revelation. In fact, "antichrist" only appears in four verses the Bible and only in the books of 1 John and 2 John.

Now let's look at these verses to see who antichrist is.

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." (1 John 2:18)

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." (1 John 2:22)

"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." (1 John 4:3)

"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." (2 John 1:7)

These are ALL of the verses in the Bible that use the word "antichrist".

Note that antichrist is anyone who does not confess Christ or one that denies Christ. The word "antichrist" simply means one who is against Christ. There are many "antichrists" in the world, just as there were when John wrote these verses. (1 John 2:18) Many are here, and if the world remains, more will come. This is not a single person predicted to come in the future. We need to beware of the antichrists now.

Someone who is "antichrist" can be either male or female.

Also, it is interesting that the article "the" is not in the original Greek. The Bible does not point to "the Antichrist", but this spirit of antichrist and whoever promotes it.

Jesus saus, "He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth." (Luke 11:23) Whoever is against Christ is antichrist.

Why not? Anyone who does not believe in Christ is supposed to be an Anti-Christ whether male or female but it does not necessarily make any them the devil.
Clarify what you mean by the word you are using.

When John witnesses the opening of the first seal, he see an image of the anti-christ. Rev 6:1-2

The anti-christ is described here as a man.

The Anti-Christ is not one individual. The Anti-Christ or Man of Lawlessness is groups that have and know God's Law and abuse it. So, religious groups that do not preach and maintain God's Law in their hierarchy and allow abuses to continue are the Anti-Christ. This is supported by the way Jesus spoke to the scribes and Pharisees at Matthew 23. He gave them examples of how they were not following God's laws Saying "Woe to you," . He called them hypocrites and serpents, offspring of vipers. Read it. It's really interesting and shows the things that the religious leaders were doing in the time and you can see parallels today.

Anti in "Anti-Christ" is derived from the word Aunt(Aunty) which in general denotes a feminine so an Anti-Chrisht can be a female

The scripture says the end won't come until that man of sin be revealed.. I guess that could be mankind and a woman could fit but I think the anti christ will be a man.
