Way back in the day, when I was your age I had boyfriends and they were asking their friends the same question you are now. Some people are big on public displays of affection. There are some people who love kissing in public, holding hands, walking with their arms around one another and then there are people who don't have anything against all that and feel that they are indeed affectionate people, but it just doesn't come natural to hold hands, kiss, or hug.
He may hug family if they are gregarious and come at him, I'm not saying he won't hug back. If you made a point of it, he would go out of his way to also hug you. But if left to his own devices, he just enjoys sharing your company and being in your arena, he'd probably have just as much fun watching you sleep without putting one finger on you.
We are hard to understand and I wondered why I would always attract the touchy feely type guy and we would be complete opposites. I love and love deep, just as your boyfriend does. Your feeling and his are probably meshed well. He probably thinks about you all the time, but in all the things that make up a boy and girlfriend, touching is not high on his list of priorities, as much as learning what makes you happy, being able to take you out and make you smile, or knowing that you truly love him back.
If I were you and it matters "that" much to you, don't be harsh when you bring it up to him, let him know that you "like" that type of reassurance. He'll try to remember to do that. Deep emotions, they just don't naturally come to the surface. Enjoy.

well first off you both are young and i think it's he is just worried about doing anything that would upset you or even ruin you guys being friends in the long run and a survey i once read said that 85% of all men like the woman/girl to take the first move try holding his hand and see how he reacts to it...

He may be just a young gentleman. He probably doesn't know what you will approve of as far as physical contact. If you want to hold his hand, just reach out and take it. He'll most likely be relieved you took the first step, and have a good idea of his boundries.

Try talking 2 him about it . Maybe he didn't realize. Maybe the age difference. Somtimes at that age thay are not expected 2 do as much as u think. If even after this SHORT* talk, he doesn't change it might mean u r growing apart so break up with him before he breaks up with u. Don't tell him what I said about the age difference. He might get mad and break up with u.
*if it's 2 long he might get bored and stop listening

If you feel confident then ask him if it's alright to hold his hand. It's always best to clear the way so that you know where you stand with one another. If it doesn't happen the way you want then ask him privately how he feels about it and see if you can talk things through.

Talk to him and find out what is comfortable for him. Maybe right now he's not ready to hold hands. He might just be intimidated by you or really like you!

I bet he likes you too but he is to shy. A guy at that age will hang around a girl because he likes her, but say anything. I know I did and I regret it. Anyways make it known that you like him. Don’t hint that you do because he may never get it. It’s best to flat out and tell him. Then give him a few days and I bet he will come around.

if he is nervous you take the first step and make him feel comfirtable by holding his hand and love is not about holding hands or things like that, its in the heart, its all about how much you respect and care for the person you love!!

he's probably not used to public affection or may find it embarrasing. but as time goes on he will used to holding hands and all that kind of stuff boyfriend and girlfriend do so be patient or just talk to him about it.
