I used fresh step, but I don't think it's the litter. I use these little pan liners that are coated with baking soda. They're at the pet store near the litter. They just say cat liter liner. Ever since I got those the smell stopped.

The absolute BEST litter for hiding odors is "Feline Pine." There are several different brands that are basically the same thing. You should be able to find it easily at a discount store or local pet store. The litter is made up of small compact pieces of wood shavings. It looks like little capsules/pellets of pine. When the cat urinates, the pellets absord the liquid and expand. It's also natural and better for cats, anyway. This is not a clumping litter, though. You will only be able to remove poop with your scoop. We had three inside cats (2 boys and 1 girl) and this was the only litter that we could use that had literally no smell to it. Give it a try, you'll definitely like it.

Cats are desert animals, and as such, don't have the same drinking reflex as humans/dogs. So when he's thirsty, he won't necessarily drink. This can be a problem when you are only feeding dry food, because his urine will then be extremely strong. You know what it's like if you don't drink enough water in a day - it also doesn't smell too good! What I do is this: Mornings and evenings I make my kitties Kitty Soup. I basically take about a table spoon of wet food, and mix it with quite a bit of hot water. This will ensure that he's getting enough water during the day, and you can still leave his dry food out - he would be getting most of his nutrients from this. Good luck!

Males still tend to spray even after they are fixed it is a territorial thing just be happy it's in the litter box. You could also look for litter for muliple cats which has an enxime killer mixed in. Other than that rule of thumb is have one more litter box than amount of cats. If he starts to spray or pee elsewhere in the house that would be the best solution

There could be many reasons it smells:
1. Litter isn't holding smell. I suggest Fresh Step for multiple cats (carbonated)
2. He isn't getting enough water.
3. He has an infection. There is Iams that helps with the urinating.
4.Change out his litter. (As in pour it all out and get a new batch in there).
5. If all fails, take him to the vet to get checked.

I have a neutered male cat and I just use a litter called Yesterday's News. It's pretty good and I don't smell his pee. It's made of recycled newspaper and so should be cheaper than most other litters.

Could be his diet. Change foods and see if that helps. Be sure he has access to water all the time or his pee will be strong.

Put some baking soda in the litter and mix it around. This helps take out the smell.

If it's really bad, take him to the vet to see if he has a bladder infection.

well i use arm and hammer multy cat scoop litter with crystals in it and i hardly ever smell anything . unless i forget clean it . but i have one cat and sometimes with the busy life i don't remember until 2 weeks later and it still dose not smell . i always use multy cats cause it's a better smell fighter than regular . also make sure he drinks plenty of water sometimes cats don't get enough water just like humans if we don't drink enough fresh clean water our urine gets dark and smelly also . also maybe u should talk to your vet . he might have a urinary track infection and you don't know it . just call up your vet and tell him/her what's the deal.

I spread a layer of baking soda in the bottom of the pan before I put in the litter. This helps absorb the pee and eliminates the odor.

It is because he is fixed. Before we had our cat fixed we didn't have a problem with smells. After however it started to smell all the time. Our vet said that male cats will spray to mark their territory after they have been fixed.
