Ive just bought a used a Cannon A620 but I dont have the intructions, the previous owner lost it, I understand almost everything but I dont get what the MACRO is for.

It's that little icon of the Flower, and at places your camera in a mode that allows it to focus much closer than normal.

Very handy for taking photos of very small objects and making them look big.

Taking picture of small objects! But Canon A620 isnt a 1:1 Ratio (True Life Size) its just a zoom macro! So its not professional

Macro usually means LARGE, and Micro means small.

Macro mode would be a large picture, such as landscape mode, or it could mean an extreme close up.

Experiment with the mode and see what kind of pictures it takes.

"Macro focus" is for taking extreme close-up pictures of very small things. This function is also on film cameras with telephoto lenses.
