It depends on how many times they've been inseminated or bred to the male. A female dog can be bred to different males and have puppies by different males during a pregnancy that's why if you want pure bred pups you have to keep her separated from all males except the one you want her bred to. Eggs are fertilized each time they are bred. So if you want to know how many puppies then you have to know how many times she's been inseminated.

Had a german shepard 5 years back She had 12 but two passed away. The rest depends on the breeding process and how the mother is taken care off during pregnancy.

Well, some of my best friends are Shepards, and they average about 6-10 puppies. You could log onto the American Kennel Club website for more information, I think.

german sheapards have litters ranging from 3 to about 16 so depending on the age of your dog or how many times it has had puppies your best bet if shes pregnant for the first time she would have around 4 or 5

Usually? Or first litter? Every situation is different, but I've seen as few as three live pups up to thirteen.
Intelligent breed. Good luck, whatever you do.

First litters are usually smaller, and the bigger the dog, the more pups, but around 5 for your first, and maybe up to 10 in any sucessive litters.
