how sad....whats wrong with a lil kid dreaming of being a bus driver? maybe its your dreams that are the problem...kids dreams are what they always were about wanting to be part of the world they see around them, when they have to modify them because they don't seem ambitious or interesting enough then there is something to worry about!

We tend not to dream big anymore. President takes some extra education and stepping on the little people, and accepting money from all sorts of people and making empty promises. I would be glad my son is not dreaming of being president. Now a cop, maybe something bad happened to someone in the family and he is blaming the police. I do not know. A bus driver for a local transist system is not a bad job. They are union and have good benifits. I would not discourage this dream.

Oh a 7 year old wanting to be a bus driver.....that's okay. He's probably intrigued by buses. Think of it.....he may think it's like "power" --- look how big they are --- look how they pick up all kinds of people to get them where they want to be. Plus, they get to wear a uniform. Has he been on a bus or something? Maybe it was a good experience for him. I'm a female-- I LOVED TRAINS and wanted to drive a train when I got older too. Hell, I wouldn't want my OWN son to be president of the United States. Not back then - nor now. Talk about a stressful job...I have a 27 year old and an almost 18 year old. My youngest is probably going to the Coast Guard (he wanted to be a paleontologist when he was 4 -- go figure). It's all good!!!!

You need to raise the bar for him. Turn him into a big dreamer. Let him know that nothing is impossible. There is nothing he can't do or become. You have to believe it in your heart for him to believe it.

BTW, I would pick bus driver over president or cop any day...so maybe he's smarter than we're giving him credit for. You should seriously ask him "WHY" he wants to be a bus driver. He may tell you he likes going places and/or meeting lots of different people and/or being in control. Then, depending upon what he tells you then you can steer him [pun intended] towards different role models who also share his likes.

Hope this helps. Being a dad can be a challange. Believe me, I know!

Stay optimistic! Stay strong!

Kids don't aspire to be what their parents dream of them to be any more. They dream their own dreams, and because they're little, they're honest about them. They don't concern themselves with what income they will make, or being 'proper' yet....they just want to have fun. Being a bus driver sounds fun to your child....support him or her and enjoy their youth and freedom to dream without standards.

A dream is the experience of envisioned images, voices, or other sensations during sleep. Dreams often portray events which are impossible or unlikely in reality, and are usually outside the control of the dreamer
