All that matters is what you believe about yourself. Being an actress isn't a matter of luck at all, but to be very successful is a matter of both luck and skill, or a certain 'look'. I think there are a lot of 'actors' and 'actresses' who are very successful because they have a certain appeal that has nothing to do with acting ability, and they were in the right place, at the right time. And there are also a lot of very talented actors and actresses who will never get that break. I don't see any reason why you can't pursue your dream and still have a backup plan in case it didn't work for you.

I don't think you need to convince them hun....If they are that mean and have no faith in you then I think you should let them be. You need to get into acting classes, enter in acting auditions, and research...I don't know you but I believe in you. I know you can do it, if you believe in yourself and put your mind towards that particular goal that you want, it'll come to pass, I grantee it...pray always and trust in God....through him you can do anything, and when you do become that wonderful and famous actress send a message to your family "I MADE IT, I DIDN'T NEED YOU TO BELIEVE IN ME, YOU ACTUALLY MADE ME STRONGER FROM ALL OF YOUR DISCOURAGEMENTS!" and leave them with that and continue your life....good luck hun

There is no such thing as luck. It is all about skill and confidence. You have the skill but you don't have the confidence. You are worried about proving to your parents that you can do it but I think you need to prove this to yourself. If you need someone to believe in you then I am the one that believes in you. Now you need to practice believing in yourself. All the people that answered you so far has said the same thing. Now listen to us.

I believe you do it. Just don't give up. You can convince them when you get a part. Try out for your local theatre group. Great experience! Go break a leg!
