1. Buy food from a grocery store. Don't buy from vending machine or restaurants. Don't drink sodas or other processed liquids - stick to water, coffee, etc.. the basics. Bring a cooler if need be; but, try to stick to the staples like crackers, cheese, fruits, veggies, etc...
2. Keep your money and information on you and in a SAFE place - don't trust anyone on the bus. You don't have to be mean, just be very careful.
3. Bring a couple of books for reading, puzzle solving, etc... stay away from stuff that requires additional costs to use (like batteries for a walkman, etc).
4. Take in the sites... now your chance to take in the view. If it's daylight, remember to look outside and enjoy the scenario...
Have a fun and safe trip.
Good Luck.

Bring some food to eat on the trip so you don't need to eat where the bus stops. Obviously make it stuff that doesn't go bad if its not refrigerated. It could be anything, bagels, cookies, pop tarts. Also some bottled water to drink.

Eat a bigger lunch and a smaller dinner, because lunch specials are cheaper than dinner, or eat a bigger breakfast and an early supper, and cut out one meal.
