The Roman Catholic Church has had over 1600 years to develop it's traditions and dogmas. Baptistic Churches only 500 years or less.

The Roman Catholic teachings on Mary are not clearly enunciated in the New Testament. The Reformation that took place around 1500 A.D. (around the same time as "baptistic" beliefs began to emerge or re-emerge, depending on your view point) . . . the Reformation (referred to as the "protest-ant reformation" by Roman Catholics) . . . the Reformation laid great emphasis on a return to the New Testament as the sole and final authority for believers and followers of Christ. The Church in Rome has since then and before that laid a great emphasis on the authority of it's church leadership to define and teach what is "sound doctrine". Thus the two main differences between "baptistic" Christianity and the Roman Catholic Church MIGHT be phrased like this. The Roman Catholic Church would ask- what does the Pope say? What has the Roman Catholic Church historically believed and taught? Bible Believing Protestants, of which baptistic churches are generally a part of, would ask "What did Jesus and the Apostles teach?. What does the Bible really say?"

With those 2 different approaches you come up with 2 completely different views on the person of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Roman Catholics have all but diefied Mary (if not outrightly done so in some parts of the world). Bible Believing Protestants hold Mary in very high regard and honor but find nothing in the teachings of the early church prior to 300-400 A.D. that suggest the worship to or praying to the Virgin Mary or any other Christian saint for that matter.

Some things that Roman Catholics and Bible Believing Protestants do hold in common are their beliefs in 1) The Diety of Jesus Christ as the eternal Son of God, 2) The Trinity made up of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 3) And the sanctity of human life of an unborn child.

Peace.

For Baptists and i would say all-Bible based Christian churches the focus is on Christ and the work that He has done. The Bible commends Mary but like everyone else she is a person (although in many ways a wonderful example to women and wonderful example of having a trusting and devoted heart to Christ). As you think about the Virgin birth it was God who chose to use Mary and He doesn't really explain why- so it's not fair to say he chose Mary because of this or that quality about her.

Catholicism have exalted Mary because she is the mother of Jesus. While the Bible does teach that mothers have such an important role and do deserve resepect and honor- only God is to be given the kind of Honor above all else.

i hope that helps...

Because the Baptists realize that Christ is the focus of the New Testament Church and not Mary. Jesus is the Savior after all.

No he is not a hero however a individual who had fiscal issues. IRS and his accountant made it worse for him. He might have exited by way of flying right into a field or something else however he notion the irs was once his state-of-the-art hindrance. On his manifesto, which I be taught on-line makes many authentic points and ones which we can do not anything approximately. Govt is now not for the participants effectively those in vigour. His dying regrettably won't alternate the approach. I am cheerful that no individual used to be killed, except him. I don't know why it's such a big deal in Catholicism, but it shouldn't be because Mary was just a regular woman that gave birth to Jesus. SHE WAS A VIRGIN. You can't just worship a regular woman..you know what i mean?

The catholics have elevated Mary to a status that she is almost an equal with God. This is one of the reasons there are any different beliefs from Catholicism. They have a lot of beliefs that take away from God's greatness that most Protestant's don't agree with.

The catholic church elevates some people to sainthood. In the baptist church, I believe every Christian is considered a saint.

In Catholisism you can pray to the saints, in Protisantism you pray only to God (Father Son and/or Holy Spirit)

Catholics worship Mary with is a form of idolotary, because she was the chosen one to bear the Son of God. They put the mother of Jesus above Jesus Himself! Which seeing as Jesus is God - they are putting Mary above God. Mary was just a human woman chosen by God because she was a faithful, true beliver in the Lord God Almighty.
The Baptists belive that although important and a very blessed woman Mary is no greater than you or I. She was still human and still a sinner like the rest of us. She still needed her son to die on the cross for her just like we did. You shouldn't pray or worship Mary because then you are putting a human before God Almighty.
Also you do not need to have a priest or any other religious figure interceed for you in confession. You can have access to God directly through a realtionship with Him by accepting Jesus Christ as your saviour and knowing that He died for your sins.
Check it out in a bible (New International Version is easy to read) and see for your self.

In the Baptist Church, we are taught to worship and pray to God/Jesus only. It says in Romans and in Hebrews that Jesus is the only mediator. We believe we shouldn't pray to anyone but God. That's the Baptist reason, better have a Catholic explain their reason.

WHY is Mary a big deal at all??? CHRIST HIMSELF shunned focusing on anyone but GOD the FATHER! This worship (for that is what it is) stems back to the adoration of FEMALE SEX GODDESSES of ancient times! One was ASTARTE (Easter) and I could name many more. Did you know Mary HAD CHILDREN after Jesus was born? She did NOT remain a Virgin! READ IT in your Bible! She had a number of sons and daughters! So much for man-made myth. Stick with the facts.
