My son is in PreK in GA this yr. It is paid for by the state. There is a waiting list because there is a limited # of seats. PreK at daycares and churches costs money. It is based on each place, so I am not sure how much it is.

4year old pre-k is free for Georgia and Florida...I think it is everywhere but I might be wrong. (something to do with the no child left behind act) It might already be full though-they only take a certain number for each region but it's definantly worth it to call.

If you go with a private pre-k, it will also depend on your location but tends to run between $85 and $115 a week. If you are specifically wanting a preK setting, make sure you ask them if they have pre-k classes-otherwise it may just be a daycare setting.

(I live in Florida but I'm 5 mins from Georgia schools and 20 mins from the nearest Florida school, so my kids will be going to Georgia grade school and Pre-K also.)

Georgia Pre K is free. I do believe it is funded by the Georgia Lottery. If that is not the route you would like to take then I would recommend Primrose Schools. Best Child care centers in the country.
