The only criminal that is sentenced to death is one that took a life. Somebody who stole a small piece of candy isn't going to be sentenced to death.

Here are my criteria to promote capital punishment:
1. Criminal must have committed a capital offense (Premeditated Murder or something equal to it)
2. Criminal must be unreformable. (No matter how much therapy he gets or new marketable skills he learns, he will always be a danger)
3. Criminal must be a clear and present danger to the community. (If the criminal is constantly yelling stuff about killing people and waving knives around......)
Normally I'm against capital punishment, but I think it should be used in rare cases. *cough* I'm pretty sure Jesus was against capital punishment *cough*

I believe in keeping some one locked up for the rest of thier lives, if they are a repeat criminal, so that we dont have to worry about our lives, because they want to steal something from us and if we happen to be in the way, maybe kill us in the process...
Remember, 90% of the crimes are done by 10% of the population, so , if we can keep them locked up, the rest of us can live with out a hassle, eh?

if the criminal took another life, then I would say yes, he or she should get the death penalty or serve a life sentence. If the criminal is a thief, then he or she should not be killed.

i would want to torture him rather than kill. i think.
it seems to me that death may be to easy for these kind of monsters , they need to live and struggle for a long time with what they have done.
