no not at all. I just got filling this morning. I was freaking out this morning and last night. When I got there, I sat down, they gave me laughing gas and gave me a shot in my gums to numb the area. The shot doesn't hurt at all! A pinch from a five year old hurts more than the shot. Then they drill the area. Don't worry, the drilling doesn't hurt. It just sounds like r2d2 from star wars. Then they put the filling in and you're done! Can you believe it! I didn't feel a thing. Your lips might feel like they're big and fat because of the numbing shot, but they're not. It'll go away in about two hours. Just don't worry and concentrate on breathing.

I got my first one in 3rd grade;6 years ago. I wasn't scared, but, then again, at that age, I wasn't scared of anything, pretty much.
First, they put some gel on my cheek where they were going to give me a shot, so you couldn't feel the shot very well. It kinda tasted like pineapple. Then they gave me the shot. They kept it in for 1-2 minutes. I could hardly feel anything, but on occasion, I would feel sort of a pinch in my cheek. Not very bad, though. Then, while they were actually giving me the filling, I couldn't feel a thing. The numbing really works. After they were done, it felt like my cheek was HUMONGOUS! but it went away in about an hour. Just Remember, It's not bad, and so many people get them! Oh, one more thing, my friend needs 8 fillings!! yes, 8!! Feel lucky.

It won't hurt too much. The shot is really the only thing you feel and that only hurts for a second. Once you are numb, you won't feel anything. You may be a little sore after the novocaine wears off, but some tylenol will take care of that.

No, sweetie. It should not hurt. the injection to get you numb will feel like a little pinch which lasts for about 5 sceconds. once you are numb you won't feel a thing. Relax. Be sure to listen to advice of Dentist so that you can prevent future cavitities. I'm glad you are taking care of your teeth and doing it before things get worse. Great job.

No, & if the dentist thinks that it hurts, he/she uses the apathy substance so you won't feel any pain. By the way... congradulations! It's really good that you hadn't have any cavities up to now. Be careful of your teeth always :) . Good luck.

Not as much as the cavity will hurt as a toothache! Quit complaining and get the work done.

Relax. Tell the dentist you are concerned about the pain. They have some options for you. Dentists these days are generally very good at minimizing the pain.

With modern high speed drills and with Novocaine, there is really very little pain involved.
