I am a fairly average looking woman, overweight even. Not exceptionally pretty. But nearly everywhere I go I am pursued. Men follow me around, some ask me if I will date them, what is my phone number is, etc. I do not dress up or try to make myself attractive. Why is this happening? Does it happen to every girl? Should I be flattered or scared? I hate that it happens and I am getting to the point that I want to stop going out just to avoid the problem.

You should feel fortunate.

This happens to me off and on and it can be annoying and a pain sometimes. Do take it as a compliment. If guys weren't attracted to you or giving you attention then you would think something is wrong with you. So don't change your lifestyle by not going out just because of all these guys that are in heat.

Flattery is my first impulsive answer, but you should make sure to stick to very populated areas if they won't go away. You really don't want to risk anything, even if whoever is pursuing you is completely innocent. You might also want to take a few friends with you everywhere so they can help you out of any potential predicaments.

(And, in the case of being caught by anyone, pinching under the upper arms can force them to let go [hurts like a *****!] if neccasary.)

Good luck!

I would say to be flattered. But there is a point when too much of something does tend to be annoying. Don't stop going out, just don't make eye contact with everyone you meet. They may think that you are interested, and try to pick you up.

I wonder if the places you are talking about are bars, clubs or a place were unmarried folks hang out. I think the simple solution to this problem is to go out with some friends instead of being alone. Yes you should be happy with the attention

most guys try for women like you that are below average because it is almost a sure thing...With good looking women you have a chance of rejection...Dont be flattered it is all a insecurity thing

It may be the way you dress and how you present yourself. Make sure you're not sending the wrong signals by your demure.

so i guess this:

"I am 25 years old, have 2 kids. I love to paint, cook gourmet food, sing, dance, daydream, travel, meet new people. All of that really energizes me. "

isn't true...
