I'm pretty sure Phthisis Pulmonalis is pulmanary tuberculosis, a disease that was a common killer before the vacination was discovered in the early 1900s

Well, I knew that the Pulmondlis must have been to do with the lungs, so I checked on the search engine and came up with nothing - then I checked other peoples answers and was educated - sound like it must be TB to me!

I think you mean phthisis pulmonalis which is another name for Tuberculosis (TB).
