yes i reload for my original 45-70 trapdoor.you have to load it according to book for right power load per chamber pressure..if buying ammo make sure its for trap doors,,the lever action winchesters uses a hotter load and its not safe..using a 400 grain bullet.powder#4198 book says safe max is 38 grains at 1457 fps..3031-54 gr at 1810ps...in a ruger single shot it can be loaded to 458 mag loads.

It's probly designed for cowboy action shooting where they use black powder, ask the manufacturer if it can withstand the pressure of smokeless powder.
