i may not be right. Heres what i think. I think that being gay is a sin, but the bible says God loes everyone. So i think that Gay people have to repent. They have to accept Jesus Christ to come and rescue them. And they should put some effort in to resisting temptation.

I'm an atheist who has no problem with homosexuality but, just for fun, I'm going to answer this from a Christian perspective.
Homosexuality is a sin. So is lying, cheating, etc. We are all sinners. Saying that gay people will go to hell is attempting to usurp Judgment which is the divine right God.
Attempting to subvert God's authority is a form of idol worship and goes directly against the most holy of God's laws: the Ten Commandments.

If you are going to repent you have to STOP THE BEHAVIOR. Otherwise the repentence is nothing but a lot of words.
Being gay is spoken against at 1 Cor. 6: 9-10. It is a sin that incurs death, okay? There are also a number of other things listed in that scripture that incur death. If you have sex and you are not married you are just as guilty as the homosexual, and the judgement is the same.
If you are living an otherwise clean life it is best to follow the Bible's advise and avoid "bad" association.

We go to hell when we continually ignore good inspirations to do what is right. That's what when we ignore the Holy Spirit and then we harden ourselves against God. Any sin becomes a Sin against the Holy Spirit if we refuse to change our ways. So, best to help your friend see the Light. Homosexuality is a sin when it is practiced. It is not only a sin of fornication (illicit love outside of the bonds of marriage between a man and a woman) which is a sin against God. It is also a sin against nature because the homosexual act is unnatural. Any use of sex that frustrates the natural end of sex (procreation of children) is sinful and can lead us to hell. If you look in the Bible, homosexuality is a sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance. Do your friend a favor. Pray for him, do penance for him and help him see the truth.

Any sin can put you in hell: lies, stealing, blasphemy, murder, hatred, etc., as well as sexual sins. Look at this:
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (New International Version)
9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Homosexuality is just one of many sins that can keep you out of heaven. It is also one of many sins that can be forgiven by God when that person repents and turns to Jesus. No nongay sinner should think that he/she is superior to the gay sinner.
Romans 2 (NIV)
1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
Since God is kind, tolerant, and patient toward your gay friend, why not do the same? If you can't do this, let your friend go, not condemning him, but telling him that you can't tolerate his lifestyle.

To directly answer your question. If your friend is Gay and maintains that lifestyle (whether he is a Christian or not), then he is condemning himself to hell by walking off the Path Jesus has put before him.
You friend can be forgiven and repent and get back on the Path Jesus has shown us. By repenting though, he would be giving up his gay lifestyle. That doesn't mean he has to run out and be with women, just that he can no longer have a gay lifestyle.

The Bible says that all who are rich can't make it to heaven. So, all those rich anti-gay people are going to hell. Right? According to their logic, yes. All Americans are rich by historical and geographic standards.
Those who get "literal" with the 3 words in the Bible that might might maybe condemn homosexuality, but continue to stomp all over the poor miss the point.

Homosexuality is a sin like any other. It can be repented of and forgiven. But as long as he is living the lifestyle, he won't be forgiven.
Repentence means doing a total "about-face," totally ceasing the sin from which you are repenting, and turning to God.

Romans 10:9-10 says confess, then believe with all your heart that Jesus is our savior (paraphrased). The confessing part is easier than the second part which is a conscious decision to follow Christ. The question to ask is by never repenting (turning from sin), did he ever follow through with the second part. There are many websites you can direct him to for advice if he is willing.

Being gay is not any kind of sin at all. Where'd you get such an idea?
Are you serious about this question?
It's not like your friend can "not be" gay.
