Proud to say that I did. Met my future wife in findsomeone.com over 2 and a 1/2 years ago. We chatted on line for quite a while then she told me her real name (as was just using her chat name) and I started calling her direct on phone. We then met 1/2 way between our cities (we are 2.5 hours away from each other) for a coffee and something to eat. That day we sat in the car by the water (ok it's Canada and the water in March is covered in snow) and just talked for hours about each others interests, past and goals. Neither of us were after a serious relationship at the time, but we stayed in contact daily and the next thing you know we are visiting each other each weekend. Well, after about a year of dating we took our first vacation together and flew out west to see my son who is attending university there. We spent many happy hours there travelling all over the province and seeing the mountains, beautiful sunsets, went whale watching, etc... Now a year later we are engaged to be married next May. We continue to talk on phone nightly and to see each other every weekend. Life is a funny very thing and we are often blessed with people who come into our lives for short periods of time. But in this lady I have found someone to share the remainder of my life with.
So yes serious relationships can be formed by meeting someone on-line. But the fact is that you need to met the individual in person to learn about the true them in order for anything to grow from this form of correspondence.

I did. We chatted on the phone and through Email though for months and months (even though we only live 5 hrs away from each other) until we finally met...and it's all going MARVY....so my thoughts is this CAN work - but get to know them well first...by the time we finally met we knew each other so well that is was just the most natural thing to be together. Best first date I ever had..lol..and...yes - we are going forward with this...I'm betting on a lasting relationship...
Online romance can be tricky and has it's own set of rules and obstacles...just like in da real dating does...but it can work...with a lot of caution and common sense...and some patience. Suppose that applies to any relationship doesn't it?

Yes and I've been married to him for 8 years now.
The thing is to realize that you cannot love someone on the computer. You have to meet them and spend time with them. And then realize that 95% of the time it's not going to work out anyway.
In the beginning we spent alot of money on airline tickets going back and forth, but it was worth it.
