I think my dogs paw may be peeling because I walk her almost everyday since may this year in 2006. Now in July the cement is hot and my dog and I walk 20 blocks frequently. It could be her paw it getting damaged because of the high temperatures which heat up the cement. If you think you know why her paws are peeling please give me an answer as soon as possible. Thankyou ! if this helps my dog is a chihuahua mix with white fur and black spots. She has floppy ears and is relatively small. She is goingf to be two thid year in November 25.

If your dog is peeling, then it's probably burning it's feet. You need to stop making the dog walk on hot asphalt. Try it yourself and if it's too hot, then it's nearly too hot for the dog. If its WAY TOO HOT for you then it's surely too hot for him. Run in the grass, find a track with grass for him, run alone.

Shave the dogs paw area to get the sticky stuff off, probably gum or tar. It's too hot for dogs to run right now, at least run in the shade.

She probably just tore her pad on her foot and now it isn't healing very well. Take her to the vet or just put some neosporum on it and put a sock on her foot so she can't lick it off. You'll just have to carry her around for a few days till it heals.
