Both Christians and Athiests can be closed minded.
Even Christians must be open minded enough to accept when they are biblically proven wrong. I can't count how many times I've discovered truths in my bible that totally blew away the dogmatic principles I grew up with.
Open mindedness does not require a total paradigm shift. It simply means observing and judging everything for its merrit.
Many (Certainly not all) very vocal Christians frequently spout falsehoods because that's what they were taught when they were children. If we claim to be Christians, we must follow Christ. That means we must dilligently study the word of God so we know as much of the truth as possible.

No, No No, you are wrong again. Most of us HAVE given "jesus" and/or "god" many chances to show themselves to us, and have prayed in earnest for selfless things, and have been ignored completely. So, rather than be angry over being ignored and about his lack of involvement in preserving innocent lives and justice, choose to believe that it is much more likely that he doesn't exist at all. But, as you can tell, many are still angry, and feel like they've been lied to for years. If you can take a step back out of the sugar coated cloud that your religion keeps you intoxicated by, look around you and tell me why your all-powerful and all loving god doesn't help the very people who believe in him so strongly. We are more open-minded than you fundies will ever be. But, we are also realistic and will not worship an imaginary person with superpowers that he never even demonstrates. Oh, sure the bible says..........he did this and that and WOW. But, what have you seen him do in your lifetime? I mean for real, not, I see a flower bloom, I hear a baby cry, crap. Those things are not good examples to anyone but those who share your beliefs. You have to talk about real tangible things in order to communicate with people who are not immersed in the bible. I am well aquainted with the bible, my father was a minister and I grew up in church, so I already know what the bible says about this and that. L.Ron Hubbard wrote a book that people are useing as a religious text too, that doesn't mean it's the truth. It's just a story.

No for all people to join any perception you may desire to be slightly close minded, there quite is not any way around it. Even Atheist are issue to this, because of the fact they join the perception that there is not any God, without evidence. i think of Atheist tend to apply the term in the direction of religious human beings because of the fact a while religious human beings close their minds to medical concept. whilst interior the previous technology has made hundreds claims that have been shown top. The bible makes many claims that are patently and clearly incorrect, once you will discover actual data of something being incorrect and you deny that it quite is misguided or you twist the meaning so as that it sounds top to you, is i'm sorry to assert, close minded. you may not quite have faith that bats are birds and bugs basically have 4 legs do you?

You are correct. We do not have closed minds. We are very aware of the truth and of the things that reach out to hide the truths. To those things we may be close minded, because they are not for us. We know the path and we keep our eyes on the Lord. To the left or the right we need not look.....but that doesn't make us close minded.

You have that very wrong atheists are not close minded at all that is why they believe in no god. Atheist would believe in god if there were any proof at all. I for one have given Jesus a chance. I have been in christian schools for most of my life and I realize that the truth is that there is no god. Now if you could offer some proof of his existence I would gladly change my mind.

Jesus had his chance with me.
The reason you are known as closed minded is because you accept no truth that conflicts with a book
1) you didnt write
2) you never met or knew the ones who did write it
3) contains information on metaphysics which cannot be confirmed
4) damns EVERYONE else.
While you hold that "the Word" is flawless - you are close minded. But there are worse things to be.

I know it was my answer that indicated your being closed minded...Since you're unwilling to question your faith than that makes you exactly that closed minded--sorry you take offense, but... Oh, that's right...it's a sin to question, isn't it...it's also why humanity descended into the dark ages...that concept of questioning being sinful...and why heretics that questioned were burned at the stake, etc.
Why would I be willing to give a falsehood/lie a chance? I tell you exactly why and you accuse me of closed mindedness...I'll repeat why I am not willing to "give Jesus a chance". Jesus is false based upon the following facts: He only met 80-90% of the criteria to be Messiah. Humanity would have ceased to exist at one of two points in time...His death and his resurrection...We would have all immediately ascended or descended accordingly--that didn't happen. He didn't die for our sins--we still have sin today...The Jewish people were chosen as living penance for the sins of humanity. HE IS NOT THE SON OF GOD. That's why I can't give Jesus a chance...the scriptural and theological evidence indicates he's not worthy. PEACE!

Coming from my experience with "christians". They are close minded and automatically think that you are a "sinner" or a bad human or not on their level if you DON'T believe.
And most of those people don't live like the bible tells them they should be living.
I had gone to church half my life because my family did and my mom made me go with my grandparents. At a certain point I realized I can have my own beliefs and not just think something because somebody told me to.
Personally I really don't care what people think and what they don't. To me it matters what I think and that's that.
I'd love to see people of faith actually live like they supposedly think people of faith/others should live.

I gave jesus a chance and he failed. You know nothing about me. Just another generalization by a christian that does not know what they are talking about. I never said anyone was close minded. Your truth does not involve me. Respect my belief as I respect yours.
Not trying to attack? BS.

I am not close minded - if that works for you, then go with it. But I just think it is naive to think that you for sure KNOW the truth. There is no way you can possibly know. I am open to the possibility of God and all that, but I don't claim to KNOW anything.
