Not more important, but equally. With friendship, there is love. I love my best friend to death, but I wouldn't date her. But I've found that my relationships with guys I've dated that started as a friendship always lasted longer. Perhaps because I knew them before I started dating them, and I was comfortable around them.

in my opinion, friendship is the starting foundation of a relationship, if you have a good friendship in the beginning, you both develop respect, compassion and listening skills towards one another, you're always able to go back to the roots of your relationship if those qualities are established.
