In very high temperatures such as this, you run the risk of quickly overheating and getting either heat exhaustion or worse...heat stroke; especially if you live in a very humid environment.

In humidity your body's natural cooling system (sweat and evaporation) can't work because the sweat won't evaporate and you'll just overheat.

Drinking lots of fluids may prevent you from getting dehydrated, but it doesn't do much to prevent overheating.

I take my dog for a walk at 6 a.m. and it's almost 80 degrees here at that time. I walk a lot and am used to it. Even so, this heat is taking it's toll and I've reduced the amount of time we walk now (normally 45 min - hour). If you live in an area with heavy pollution (I don't) then the heat is even unhealthier for you (stagnant air). Don't chance it. Exercise indoors until it gets cooler.

It doesn't even have to be 90+ heat... even at 80+ degrees it can be taxing on your body, especially if you are not used to it.

I recommend jogging at night when it is cooler, and still make sure you have water available.

I ran a 5 miler on Monday night and at one point I felt like I stopped sweating, which isn't a good sign. Next time I go out in this heat I will make sure I have water available on my driveway or mail box when I run by.

Yes, but be careful. Stay well hydrated. Wear light clothes that don't hold in the heat. Avoid walking.running during the hottest part of the day--try to go early in the morning or late in the evening. Go slower than your usual pace. Stop if you feel yourself getting over heated. Bring water or sports drink. Also take a cell phone in case you need to call for help.

Yes, but early in the morning or late in evenings. I ride my bike then best time. If you do this during the day have very little clothing on. Don't do it to long different times maybe 10 -15 min You could get a heat stroke, Limit your self durning the day. Some people work in this weather but they know to do it slow not to get to hot

It depends on many factors (i.e. your health, your conditioning, humidity, etc...).

If you have to ask if it is safe then it may not be for you.

I was running in about 100 degree weather and started getting cold and seeing stars and that is when I knew I was in trouble. You really, really, have to be careful in extreme temperatures and if you are not in top notch shape I would recommend against it as it just isn't worth it. Those kind of days may be better spent indoors working out!

It can be. I run for 3 hours twice a week even if it is 90 degrees. Just make sure that you drink water and Gatorade for electrolytes. If you don't have enough fluids you will become dehydrated. That can be dangerous.

other posters have already said this, but it depends on your level of fitness, how well you're hydrated, etc.

another question i have is, why on earth would you want to? i tried my usual 3+ miles last week in 87 degree weather and thought i was Going To Die. i'm inside with my yoga this week. it's just not worth it to me.

if you really desperately need the cardio, try a shopping mall if one is available.
