Limewire is a P2P (Peer To Peer) application. This means that, all clients that use limewire share their files with everyone else who is also using limewire. Just like 2 computers that shares files....

To answer your questions, see below.
Question # 1: Anyone, know the file size?
Answer # 1: The file size you download in Limewire varies, if it's a movie, typically it would be 700MB - 5 GB, if it's a full length mp3, it will range from 3 mb - 12 mb... If it's an application, the size also varies.

Question # 2: Is it legal in Pennsylvania?
Answer # 2: The program Limewire is completely legal, otherwise they would have shutdown a while back... It is what you may/can do with limewire that might be illegal... For example, if you search for movies, music, pictures that are copyrighted and downloaded them without paying, then that is illegal.

I do not recommend using Limewire or Kazza or P2P programs because they ALWAYS contain spyware / adware and I have repaired many computers because of the other programs they download in the background with out your knowledge. It's like opening a floodgate and they eventually clog your computer until it's useless.

I use bit torrent.
http://www.bit-torrent-sites.com/

The speed is determined by not just you but the other users. They might have a slower speed, or there could be heavy traffic (your end or theirs) slowing it down.
Some times other users sending you files log off and your stuck waiting till the next day when they log on again.
There are so many possibilities.

I have had a few 700MB movies take over a Week to get it all, and some never finish because when the other person is done they stop sharing.

Hope this helps, and remember to share at least 200% or for one week which ever comes first to help others.

Limewire.... Its a P2P (Peer-to-Peer) Client Software. It connects all the users worldwide whoever has installed LimeWire.

Hence whenever you search for any file(Song/video/movie etc) in limewire, software will go and search all the computers in limewire network and give you files.

Main thing to keep in mind is that that Limewire is jam packed with spywares, malwares, trojans, viruses etc. Hence keep your antispyware/antivirus software handy while downloading file from limewire.

Now one thing that whatever you download from limewire might be Legal or Illegeal. It all depends on what kind of file you are downloading. If that file is free for distribution that that's legal otherwise its Illegal....

I hope I've cleared your doubt. Still if you have any question then do ask,......

You shouldn't have problems downloading LIMEWIRE in your new computer since the size is not that big, but i don't really know what the laws of Pennsylvania say abou this...

You can get the BASIC LIMEWIRE which is free and you can download all the music you want ( The time on downloading your music depends on the speed of your internet connection). LIMEWIRE is shared by more than 2 Million peopple which means you have acces to get and share all the music you want, burn the music into your cds and more, just don't sell any cuz then..!!! Your in trouble. (If you get cought..)

Go for it try it... Go to www.limewire.com to download the BASIC or TURBO.

P.S: you can also download , Movies, Software Programs, Files , Almost anything you want..
Awesome isn't it.

Enjoy..

Limewire is a P2P filesharing program. Allowing users to share files across a network.

Having the software and using it is perfectly legal, it's the just the content you wind up "sharing" is what can get people into trouble.

The program is written in Java, so the size is a little bloated than it should be, but is of no consequence if you're on broadband, and if you're not, you shouldn't waste your time with Limewire anyway.

There's not much to tell about it's function. You load it, you click of category on the type of media you want, enter your search string, results come up, you double click on a source, download it, listen/watch/enjoy.

I'd like to reccomend FrostWire. Which is a open source free version of LimeWirePRO.

Limewire is a file sharing program .. the program itself is not illegal, and you can use it for legal purposes.. for example..say you had a bunch of photos on your computer, and you wanted to share them with friends, you could do this by putting those photos in your ¨shared¨ folder your friends could then download it directly from you.
You can also share other types of files too...data for example. Most people use limewire to download music or videos from other people..you never have any contact with these people, you type in a request, and up comes a list of your selection..you click on the selection and it starts downloading.. likewise when people want to download something that you may have on your computer you will come up on their list.. no info about you, just that file.. the only files anyone can download from you, are files in your shared file folder which is where everything you download on limewire is downloaded to. It´s a great program..we download tons of stuff and then delete it.. I never bother making discs or dvds, cuz I only ever want to see the thing once. The beauty of the program, is that you can download really old or obscure stuff.. try it.. you can always uni stall if you don't like it.

Do yourself a huge favor....don't EVER use limewire. It is huge for virus' and has killed two of my computers and my little cousin cant seem to get it through his head that the reason all of his computers no longer work is because he keeps putting that back onto it. You are better off just paying for itunes. No virus', lots of music to choose from, though not necessarily the really random funny stuff you'd find on limewire. But trust me, it's not worth it at all. Not unless you want to pay to have someone fix your computer, or have to go buy a new one all together.

1. Limewire lets you download music onto your computer. It's free for everyone to use, but it's illegal in all 50 states.
2. Be sure to install anti-virus and anti-spyware programs before using LimeWire, since you don't really know what you're downloading from other people.
3. If you want to just LISTEN to music without downloading it, try internet radio stations. They're free too, but you can't save the songs onto your computer.

Generally speaking most of the stuff on limewire is not legal. It allows you DOWNLOAD (not listen to) MP3s movies and the like much the same as Napster and Kazaa. I don;t think the file size is too big but type limewire into google and check out their website

- Name - limewire
size - about 5 Mb
people find it illegal but i think it's not but it's going to be soon modified.

(Limewire is soon to be modified to have DRM (Digital Rights Management) code included to stop the sharing of copyright material, we suggest using FrostWire from now on. FrostWire was created by some of the original team that made )
