If you define yourself as Catholic, what makes you so?

If you don't believe in any major Church teachings (Mass every Sunday, Confession, True Presence, etc.), do you still define yourself as Catholic, and why?

I'm catholic and it is not a cult. Like all religions, Catholicism is a way for people to express spirituality and have a common place to worship. What makes me a Catholic is my belief in the holy trinity, that the Pope is ordained by God and that if you ask for forgiveness from God he will grant it. Religion was once a way for people to find explanation for the unexplainable now it is a way to find meaning in a world that can make you feel meaningless.

I was raised Catholic, but changed my faith to Wiccan over 20 years ago.

I don't believe in alot of the Catholic churches teachings, so I actually consider myself a "recovering Catholic".

Have a lovely rest of the day.

I don't believe in Catholic Teachings also. They are derived from occult practices dating back to Babylon and the tower of Babel. The catholic Church is OCCULT!

I was raised Catholic....and later in life turned to more Christian teachings. While I was hardly ever a practicing Catholic, I would answer "Catholic" to anyone that would ask me my religion.

Despite what the religiously intolerant first answerer says we are not an occult.

We are mostly good people who believe in God and worship him in ways that are different from everyone else.

There is no mass conspiracy, we are sorry that sexual predators abused our trust to infiltrate our ranks, and we just want to be left alone to worship in our own way as you would.
