I get that all the time, from relatives and other people who know her. (We know some of the same people in business.) I just go, "Well, you'd think she's the one who taught me how to talk or something, ha ha", but I used to be really annoyed by that. And I don't think we sound that much alike, but other people disagree!
Do you get it, and if you do, how do you deal with it?

Ugh I hate when this happens. In my family there happens to be an unfortunate genetic trait that affects our voices, making us all sound like we are 15 years old. High pitched, squeaky laughs, you name it. It's awful. And the worst part of it is, that I didn't manage to escape the gene pool. I know exactly what you mean. Nothing to do about changing the way your voice sounds, but you can, if your comfortable with it, altar your lingo a little. I know sometimes I find myself using phrases and sentences definitely lifted directly from my mom. If you catch yourself doing it, recognize it and try to use it less. Or try and turn it into a positive thing. I mean, in the end we really do love our mothers and maybe it isn't sooooo terrible to inherit some of their quirks.

Yes! My Mom and I sound almost identical on the phone. For instance- the other day my Mom was at my house visiting, and my husband called. I was out of the room, so she answered the phone for me. He thought it was me on the phone! Luckily, he didn't start getting playful! He was embarrassed anyway, especially because it's happened a couple times before! It doesn't bother me that we sound alike. I mean, some things are just genetic.

When I was in High School people my mom knew told me I acted like my mom or said similar types of things she would have said. I used to say she gets it from me. You are who you grow up with, so my mom did influence me a lot and my mannerisms. It is not a bad thing, because we are both have a more sarcastic humor and have similar thoughts. I don't have kids yet to use the "momisms" she used to say but I do find myself saying some things to my cats or my husband. : ) If you're talking about similar sounding voices, no I do not sound like my mom, at least no one has told me I do.

My sisters, my mom and I all sound alike on the phone, sometimes we trick my dad because he always mixes us up, he never asks who is talking just goes into a conversation, then when we finally say something to confuse him, he asks "who is this???" we all snicker and laugh because he gets confused....My husband also use to confuse our voices too, now he knows the difference, but after being married to my mom for 23 years and having 4 daughters he still doesn't know who he is talking too.
So my sisters and I think it is funny that we all sound like my mother.....

Yes. I have those moments sometimes where I say something or make an expression that my mom would have. It doesn't bother me usually because I respect my mom and the values she has and has taught me, so I guess I deal with it by accepting the fact that I came from her loins and it's okay to be like her at times.

I've been told I sound exactly like my mom. I used to be annoyed, but since I know I have a great voice, it just means my mother has one too. It comes in handy when I have to take care of business for her and vice versa.

Voice wise I don't really sound like my mom, but the older I get the more of her phrases I swore I would never say, I catch myself saying more and more. Especially to my kids. The biggest one is "Just wait until your Dad gets home". I used to hate it when she said that and now I say it more than I care to admit.

The older I get the more I sound like her. I am thankful, since she was murdered. My kids will ask what she was like and my hubby will say just like your mother. Mom was a likeable lady so Yes I do, and I'm proud of it.
