It all depends on what cancer you are looking for and how old you are skin cancer can be detected by miscolored moles or bumps on your skin. Colon cancer can be detected by dark colored stool or the in ability to use the bathroom. The best thing to do is anything you think is not right have it checked by your doctor early detection is the key.

Depends on the cancer... They have a ointment that you can put on your skin topically that detects skin Cancer.

you can detect some cancers by taking a pregnancy test. Yup! I said it! Given by a doctor... not the home-kit kind...

Ovarian cancers can often be pre-screened and determined by the presence of the virus that women get that often leads to cervical and ovarian cancer.

Something called a ca-125

Sometimes bad hemorrhoids can be indicative of anal cancer.

Like I said, it depends on the cancer.

Well I had cancer 2x, and it runs in my family, on both sides a bit.
I have tests done, obviously because having cancer and I have to be checked.
I had a genetic test done. They wanted to see if their was a gene somewhere. Of course on me being the medical freak that I am ;) It came back inconclusive.
It does get pricey, but my insurance paid for all of it, because of my history.
You can contact your insurance co. if you have insurance and see what they say. You might have to get proof that you have a family history of it.
If you do not have insurance, you may be able to call the cancer society and maybe they can help you.
Good luck

Yes. YOu will have to have several tests done to test for ALL cancers. Typically, to detect a tumor, an MRI will help (at least that's what I saw on the Discovery health channel).

Blood test too.

sure there are large amount of cancer tests, but it is not practical to do it all. first it must be proved that there is family condition and if you have any genetic disorder, and then can the doctors make some defined analysis, and x-rayes
