Because whether they want to admit it or not, they are here to learn about what their heart is yearning for. Let them stay here, that is why we are here, to tell why we believe.

1) no atheism category
2) if there was one, believers would be all over it trying to convert us.
I used to hang out on beliefnet that bible bangers were all over us.
3) It's a free country at least at the current time. I am posting from the USA. If we had an atheism board, I would not want a religious filter on it. Freedom is messy. Will have to get used to each other.
4) It's fun to bang ideas together. I realize this is kind of foreign to the Fundy way where the rule is "God said it, I believe it, now shut up." But in the Freethinker world people are always going "well hey did you ever think about this.... " That's why its called Freethinking.
5) I know you didn't ask me but sometimes I feel so sorry for you all. I realize that's going to sound real arrogant but you put such burdens on yourselves. Yesterday I saw the posts of some poor young woman who after reading revelations was convinced she was going to hell. Today a man posted asking for prayers he was so depressed. 14 or so answers only one other than mine suggested a doctor. People don't have to suffer so much anymore.
Even the wicked get more than they deserve.
OK you all hate me now.

Atheist love to make of you Christians because a lot of sound really stupid. We are just trying to tell you that you are wrong. I do not understand how you can believe in a religion that has no proof. You Christians can't even agree on a single church.

I know a lot about the Bible and Christianity, so I am well-suited to answer questions about them. What I believe or don't believe has no bearing on what I know.
Besides, religion is necessarily a fuzzier area than the areas I know most about, so I am less worried about making a mistake here.

Strong Atheism is a religious belief. There is no evidence that God doesn't exist, so it takes a certain amount of faith to make that claim. Of course, there's no evidence that God exists either, so it's equally irrational to believe that.

ps - as an atheist, its not that im not sure about god's existance...its that i dont believe in god period. no confusion there.

Atheists have opinions about religion, and they are sharing them.
They have just as much right and purpose to being here as you do.
suck it up

Because we are tired of religious views being (or the attempt to be) legislated into our lives.
We have to get involved in religion just to stop it.
Why do you care if two gay people get married if you aren't gay yourself?

This question has been asked over and over again. I asked it too. I really didn't get a good answer from any of them. I think it is to just bust our chops.
