If you combine it with a proper diet and drink lots of water you should lose weight. The key to using the elliptical is that you have to keep your heart rate up. If you're just getting on it and using it at walking speed, then you're probably not going to see very good results. If you haven't exercised much in the past, start out at an easy pace and work your way up to a faster pace. Your legs should feel rubbery when you get off of it. That's how you know that your exercise routine is working.

Well, this all depends on a number of other factors ... So, IF you eat a nutritious diet, IF you increase the resistance and speed along the way, IF you avoid certain drugs and "diet products," you are likely to lose weight. The Elliptical is one of the best -- if not THE best cardio/weight loss/non-impact machines. Losing weight is not just about one thing, it is about a combination of lifestyle components. You are best not to expect a huge loss real fast. The optimum weigh loss rate (to keep it off and train your body) is 1-2 pounds per week. Remember to drink lots of water ... keep hydrates, and eat many small meals during the day (including protein) rather than one large meal or starving yourself. This could have a rebound effect.
Good Luck.

If you have a slow metabolism you may want to do 6 or 7 days a week. But the general rule is getting your heart rate up for 20 minutes a day, so it sounds like you're doing a good job. It's just not always a fast process, and sometimes you hit a couple of plateaus. Just stick with it and it will work, it's a great machine, I have one too! Don't lose too much though! Stay healthy!

Maybe. Exercise is only one weapon in the arsenal against weight loss. Diet is the other. You could exercise for 3 hours a day and not lose weight if your diet is screwed up. To maximize weight loss, do your ellipitical 5 days a week and eat a common-sense diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and lowfat dairy products. Cut out fast food, junk food, and soft drinks as much as possible. Want to eat less? Take a tablespoonful of olive oil 3 times a day, preferably before meals. Olive oil is a natural appetite suppressant, but it's high in monounsaturated fat, which is very good for you (raises your "good" cholesterol and lowers your "bad" cholesterol). Good luck!

That would depend on your current weight, your caloric intake and on whether you would lose more fat than gain more muscle.
Are you trying to do Cardio or a weight loss workout? For cardio, I'd go longer than half an hour.
Look it up- and some elliptical machines have preset workouts programmed in.

if you eat a steady, healthy diet then yes - just don't eat more than you burn. Also, be sure to go in reverse on the eliptical as part of your routine or your news will start to hurt with that much use.

It's quite possible, but not that simple.
Using the machine will burn more calories than say, sitting on the couch; Diet is important too though - if you take in more calories than you burn (even using the machine) then don't expect to lose weight.

Loosing weight isn't just about exercise, it's also about what you eat and how much water you drink! So keep it up while eating healthy and drinking lots of water and you will!
