But that is not true because In Proverbs 2 the Bible tells me to look for knowledge:
Proverbs 2: 1- 11 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, [and] apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, [and] liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as [for] hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth [cometh] knowledge and understanding.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: [he is] a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; [yea], every good path.
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

When it comes to God, and what he wants from us, yes, call it closemindedness. We can't believe any other way. What throws most christians off, is that they think they are the ones doing the saving, and maybe that isn't how they think, just the way non christians perceive it.

We have to remain steadfast in our beliefs, because we are talking about going to heaven, or hell.

So in our beliefs, yes we must be closed to anything other than Jesus dying for our sins. And that through him only can we be saved. In that there can be no variable. Take care.

If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out. I'm not saying the Bible is exclusively promoting closed mindedness, because it is full of contradictions, but it definetely does teach people to be ignorant, ethnocentric, and act superior.

The bible also tells us to separate ourselves from the world. Don't partake in the worldly things. Not that this is close-minded. Well, it kind of is I guess. We can listen to other people and learn a thing or two from them. But we can't let them pull us away from our faith. We are to be closed-minded to the worldly things. Don't give in to you flesh.
