As a blackjack dealer I would say--there really isn't concentrating but knowing the basic strategy and going by that. I also think that an alternative to that is to play exaclty how the dealer does it they are hot. Hit your 16's no matter what they have up. But that is just my theory. If we can make our hands 90 percent of the time playing the way we do you should too playing consistently.

No. You can play any casino game with little or no attention. The only problem is that this makes you far more likely to lose.

Like poker, there are many different levels of skill in a black jack player:

1) Total novice; barely understands the rules.
2) Novice; understands the rules.
3) Player; understands basic strategy.
4) Advanced Player; understands strategy, counts cards.
5) Professional; advanced card counter.
6) World class pro; makes very good living playing black jack.

If you are on level 1 or 2 it doesn't matter how much you concentrate, you will probably play the same way and win or lose the same amount.

At level 3 you know when to stand, double, surrender, etc based on your cards versus the dealers exposed card.

At level 4 or above you will need to concentrate, because you need to observe and note every card that is dealt at the table. Make the correct plays based on strategy and your estimate of the card count of the shoe.

So to answer your question it really depends on your goals and your abilities. If you are card counting and using a sound playing strategy, you need to be very focused. One wrong move could neutralize the edge you have worked so hard to get.

Some what yes, you need to know NEVER to hit on 17 or higher, 15 or 16, maybe but lower than that hit. Unless you are counting cards, then you have a good feeling about if it is a 10, Jack, Queen, King, or Ace. If you know one of those will come up, just stay.

Not really, it is a very simple game. You just should not be loaded on booze when you play or you could make some costly mistakes. You can practice for free or real money by playing at the casinos listed at http://www.ranked-online-casinos.com/blackjack-online-casinos.html

Good luck and have fun! Black Jack is a blast!

BJ can become very mechanical. The bet and next thing to do is easily determined by what cards are visible on the table and in your hand. Intelligent bankroll management is and always will be the key to your success in any gambling game.
