Don't waste time dwelling on the past, just think about now and the future, it's already known that we can't go back to the past and change it, we just have to accept things the way they are, learn from it and move on. By the way, my mom is past 35 too, she's actually 42 and she's still single, alive and kickin'! So, I'm sure you could do the same, just don't give up on yourself and know that as long as you keep looking there is someone out there for you, and everyone else for that matter.
Good Luck, and Don't stop thinkin' bout tomorrow, it'll be here!
:)

I swear on my life. Not only does the following work, it is quite liberating.
If you want to move on with your life.
Take a picture of the person you wont to get over. Say your final words and then douse it with rubbing alcohol, or hard liquour. Light that bad boy on fire and watch it burn. Next pee on the ashes. It's alot easier for a guy to do, but if you are a woman maybe just spit on it or something.
If that doesn't work seek professional help.

some counseling might be in order. you have some loss issues that need to be addressed. you are grieving the loss of the relationship, just as if a person had died. It's really quite common.

Four years, what the h*ll having you been doing for four years? Get your butt in gear and get over it. It's not like he has been banging down your door to get you back. Life is about change and you need to.
