"Arizona hospitals and doctors are worried about the resurgence of some serious infectious diseases, and some believe ILLEGAL immigrants are the cause." "A rise in diseases such as whooping cough, tuburculosis, malaria, measles, and even leprosy, are creating public health concerns, and could hit hospitals and health care systems, ALREADY financially burdened by INDIGENT illegals flooding emergency rooms and urgent care centers." "The resurgence is also fueling conservative calls for tougher border security and could cause problems for Arizona industrys that rely on migrant workers." "The Maricopa County Health Dept. reported earlier this month a 100 percent INCREASE of whooping cough.' "Hospital and health care professionals are also concerned mexican illegals bringing tuburculosis with them to border ststes." "I've been in practice 25 yrs. The one disease that is most associated with ILLEGALS because there is a resurgance in the number of cases." "Recent federal reports found that mexican border regions have high rates of infectious diseases, and that HALF the T.B. cases, are from ILLEGALS." "Americans should be told that diseases long eradicated in this country, t.b., leprosy, polio, for example, have been DIRECTLY linked to ILLEGALS." "For example, in the last forty years, only 900 people were afflicted with leprosy in the U.S., but in the past THREE years, MORE than 7,000 cases have been presented!"

T.B. is "spread from coughing droplets onto another person". There is NO vaccine for t.b.!!!

Well try and put this into perspective ... if you apply legally, you're screened for certain diseases, and if your vaccination is not up to scratch, you'll have to get vaccinated again ... it is a fact, not fiction, that TB and polio are on the up ... not to mention HIV etc. There are a lot of tropical diseases in the African countries which are being spread here too as we speak ... not all illegals are from Latin America ... but ALL illegals from anywhere are unscreened medically ... the fact that HIV for example is already in the United States at an alarming rate really is no excuse for not screening newcomers ... I mean, what is so wrong about wanting to protect Americans from being infected needlessly? What is the beef about this anyway? If immigration was done legally, these questions would not arise, and this ludicrous defense of everything Hispanic will have to stop .. there are Hispanics with infectious diseases coming over our borders, as there are Africans and Europeans with diseases ... why single out one group? Or are you saying that NO illegal Hispanics carry diseases??

Ilegals come from every country not just mexico, but none of them are screened or checked for diseases...they are bringing diseases into this country like denge fever...it is very common in south texas...where most illegals come in...it pisses me off that our health is at risk and polititcians dont seem to care...all they want is the hispanic vote!

You know what COLORTX i actually do...please...this is the kind of things the gov't doesnt want you to know...you need to get educated before you run your mouth about something you know nothing about...any research can tell you about it...would be a real shocker if you came down with TB huh?

I don't think they are the main problem.

They are more likely to have and carry diseases than we are if we've had our shots, but diseases can be transmitted in any number of ways.

Overseas travelers from the U.S. are probably more likely to bring diseases in than illegals, if they encounter a strain they are not immunized for.

I think the main disease you are referring to is smallpox. I was immunized as a child and had immunizations up through the time I retired from military service. Many Americans are no longer being immunized against it, so they are vulnerable to aliens or anyone else who might have it.

Also, tuberculosis, which does not have a vaccination I am aware of, seems to be making a comeback. I think some of that is from overseas travel and some from illegal aliens, though probably not from Mexico and points south.

It's a good reason to better control immigration. Thanks for bringing it up.

The rise in some diseases around the southern border is blamed on the illegal because of the lack of a medical exam before crossing.

Unfortunately, a lot of illegals come from countries with inadequate health care so many may not be vaccinated. The best way to stop this is to force governments of poor countries to put all the cash back in the vaults, stop killing, and start being humanitarians to their people. No!!!! Well then I suggest YOU make sure you get annual checkups and vaccinate your children. Until those countries are sound economically stable places, their poor with no access to health care will be coming to you for a chance of a better way of life.

Not necesarily true. See, there were diseases in the past that were erradicated. However, remember that diseases EVOLVE, mutate, and come back to society. Why do you think AIDS has not been controlled yet? Because everytime those hard working researchers are just about to find a cure for the darned thing, it mutates into something else.
I hope your simplistic assumption has been clarified.

Not most, but it doesn't take that many carriers to create a problem. And in this case we had stopped vaccinating against some of these things, like polio, so there are people here who no longer worry about childhood vaccinations who never got them.

My answer may be as dumb as your question, but I don't care, You probably have a disease right now and want to blame illegals. Is that the case? Well if you want to explain yourself a little more, maybe we can give you smarter answers.

To me, your question is just racial prejudice and hate-mongering dressed up as a question. It is asked out of fear and ignorance.
Diseases do not identify borders on paper, like Mexico or Detroit, or Tennessee. They travel with people, animals, air, bugs, and water, and a million other ways. To pinpoint one very small group of people and blame them is just ridiculous. It is like saying Indian immigrants give us leprosy.
You will have a hard time backing your statement up with facts, because it is just silly.
Did you get cooties from a girl when you were little?
