Cutting the Estate Tax, or as some are calling it, the Paris Hilton Tax, would give the richest Americans a trillion dollars in tax breaks, meaning the rest of us would be a trillion dollars poorer.

Former Exxon CEO Lee Raymond (who just got a $400 million dollar retirement package) will save $164 million.

President Bush will personally save up to $6 million.

Vice President Cheney will save up to $60.7 million.

I think we should fight hard against cutting the estate tax. The vast amount of money that the people with the highest incomes will save could lead to cuts in social programs, education, etc. It's important to life up the Americans that have little than to enrich those who already have much. If we don't look out for the poorest Americans, who will?
