What can I do about this? I thought German Shepherds were peaceful, almost "perfect" pets to have. It seems like it is only a matter of time before he starts attacking the neighborhood kids at this rate.

Don't even get me started about the barking...

mthtchr:

I certainly do NOT hate German Shepherds...I love all animals. This one in particular just seems out of control, and it is a bit nerve-racking. I would personally never do anything to harm it. I would also feel bad if he was to be put down because I called Animal Control.....

German Shepard's need LOTS of exercise. It is a working dog. It needs to work and have something occupying its energy and day. People don't seem to realize that when you pick a breed you have to be fair and get a breed that can fit into your lifestyle.

That dog needs major exercise, it is really sad you and no telling how many neighbors probably want to feed it rat poison because it is effecting your quality of life with its annoying behavior.

Since no one should ever do that, you need to let your neighbors know while they are away, their dog is acting this way. If they are home, they just don't care and you likely have to chalk it up to not so smart neighbors.

Good luck.

Call the police and report it. If this animal is not on a leash it is against the law. It could hurt someone. Also, it is disturbing the peace if your neighbor allows his dog to bark.

Call your police or sheriff's station AND your nearest aminal control/SPCA at once!!!...

This dog can be considered a "nuisance dog" and in most cities the city attorney or county DA can order that the dog be "put down"(using whatever methods are necessary), and also the dog owner(and also his/her family members, depending on the city/county you're in) can actually be ARRESTED and held w/out bail for possesing a deadly dog...

Usually, the dog's owner can appeal the "put-down" order, but ONLY after it has happened...and then he/she can face VERY STIFF fines, and court clerk's costs for this incident...

It's like that here in some rural California counties...

I certainly hope you are a bitter person who despises German Shepherds. Who cares if it is attacking the birds in your neighborhood; they are dumb animals animals.

quick call to animal control, your neighborhood mailman should have already have done this. Start putting complaints about the barking first so it is on record.

Feed the birds so they are plentiful and he should have plenty to eat and will leave the kids alone.
