Yes, I'm glad to see another intellegent person on here. Have you read the premise to the book "The god Part of the Brain" ? It explains why people are so easily fooled into believeing all that nonsense. You can find it at www.godpart.com/premise
I think you would also dig www.godisimaginary.com it's just more good logic. Have a nice day.

The fact that people follow God when he is silent is called FAITH and is a choice that we make. If you don't that's up to you, but for us that do, please do not insult us.
The Bible tells us there will be unbelievers, false teachers, and those who do the work of the devil, and that many will follow them. A lot of cults are based on religion and people's desire to find God but they are wrong. Do not confuse them with those of us who strive to be good people and follow the Word of our Lord. I do not act hateful toward people like you, please do not act hateful toward me.
If God were not real, we would not be here. We are not here by accident. Did you know that science has found Noah's Ark? And Jesus's tomb? If God is not real, and we do not have souls, I defy you to bring back someone you love to life. If it's just a matter of making their body work, find them some new parts and make them live again...... unless, the key missing piece is their soul.
You can call me a lunatic, but God calls me His child and commands me to speak in His name, as he does to all of his children. I understand that Satan does not have specific rules yet his followers do the same, so maybe you should go after some of them for a while. After all, if there's no God, then there's no Satan, so they are all "delusional" too, right?

There was an old film " Oh God ! " starring Mr.George Burns( if I remember right ) !
The theme is quite humorous. God suddenly feels , Ok enough of it, time to just remind that He exists.
But apart from that, how do we decide that God (if He exists) should be concerned with belief or non-belief about him (given the attributes about His all knowing !) ?
Instead, why not explore something right within us, within easier reach, something that has been baffling even medicos.... what is it, the absence of which, decides that we are dead ?.... Some energy (not the brute physical one), that makes everything inside us tick , and even for no apparent reason leaves us ? A flight of knowledge from known to unknown sounds more reasonable isn't it ? Well, in this inside business, what is required is to deepen the perception level, greater awareness, to be available to perceive anything even beyond the sense organs ! Try the possibility with an open mind. The minimum benefit in this effort is we get to know our physical body working within experientially, and DEFINITELY enhances our quality of life and physical well being (at the least )!

I'd rather be a lunatic who trusts Jesus than a person like you.

While I enjoyed your vitriol, I didn't see a proof that God didn't exist. However I do take issue with your requirement that God appear for you. Perhaps you realize that your argument is similar to that of Job. If nothing else, I can recommend the entire book of Job as an excellent discussion of the problem of good and evil; you can easily read it without worry of conversion, nor is that the intent of the reading.
In the interest of the argument, I will cite only several short verses: Job 38:2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.
4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Of course, you are neither the first nor the last person to demand that He appear to you. Frankly I did it too. But God doesn't wait upon us like a servant. How should the creator serve the created? God does things in His time. It is our sometimes frustrating duty to understand Him. Barring your search for understanding Him, I can understand and even identify with your frustration.
I take it that you have read a few things, at least since you refer to a mythological foundation of Christianity. I also assume that your argument is that God is imaginary because people misbehave in His name. If you are as literate as it appears you are, you realize the error of that logic: God's existence cannot depend upon others' misuse of His name. No man or woman can stand in the path between you and God unless you allow it.
God's primary dictum is: Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Frankly this is a tough thing to perform, especially on a regular basis. Christians are sinners and indeed we fail. Hopefully we ask for forgiveness and try again. But if these are the words and effort of an imaginary being set on control of my mind, body and spirit, I just don't understand it. God has given us freedom to rape his creation: just because we don't do so well only says the more for His patience. I am sure you agree with me that we should stop. However, we only have the ability to change our own behavior. I think that behavior begins and ends with the first and second commandments.

God exists. He is found in all of creation. This world was created with way too many details, and WE are too intricately put together to not be created by an intelligent Creator.
On top of that, God doesn't need to speak audibly to make me believe that He exists. He speaks through the Bible, and He speaks to me through other believers. He speaks to me through the daily activities of my life. He speaks through prayer.
Miracles happen every day, and I see God through those miracles.
Call me an embarrassment or an idiot all you want, but neither you or any other atheist will convince me that my God does not exist.
You are correct that many people are using the name of God to speak on His behalf. Some are blessed to speak on His behalf, and others just use His name to win people over. I have no doubt that God knows the difference and He will make Himself evident to those who truly search for Him -- in spite of the messenger.
I believe that you are searching for something to believe in, and you are bashing God and Christians, because you are searching for Truth. I hope you are able to find Him. He is real, and He is truly awesome to behold.

Who are you to say what god would and should do, what your saying is only what you think he should do, god knows what he's doing and he wont keep what you call "silent" for too much longer. He speaks to those who listen, and not orally.
