Have just got a 1984 red TR7 convertible for £500. She sailed through her MOT and drives like a dream. My wife calls her my mid-life crisis, my mates call her my B*tch (the car that is!), but I just call her GORGEOUS!!

It cost me a moment's right arm strength as I pulled on my end of the Christmas cracker. True it won't transport me very far but at least I don't have to pay out for road tax and insurance and I'm doing my bit for the environment too! Sorry, don't have a 'real' car, don't want a 'real' car and would certainly be turned off by any guy who bragged about how expensive his car was!

It's a five-year old Corsa I bought nearly new for £5000. I've had all sorts of cars - Rovers, Fords, a BMW 7, but this has been the best and cheapest car I've run. Solid too.

I bought a brand new Toyota Corolla in 1984 for 4500 South African Rands (about £500 then) and sold it twenty-one years later for 10,000 South African Rands. I haven't replaced it yet as I am still looking for a good bargain!

I drive a 98 Chevy S-10 and I think I paid $12,000 for it (I bought it used- it was three years old). It's all paid off now and I call it "the Kid" because I have no children and it's my baby (besides my husband being my baby that is).
