I like this guy I know from college. He is really shy in person. I used to flirt with him online when I first started talking to him but I thought I scarred him off because he didn't flirt much back. Lately he's been talking more to me online. He was blantantly flirting with me online the other night (it kinda came out of nowhere) but immediately after said that he had a girlfriend but if he didn't then something would happen (i dont know exactely what he meant). I was kinda confused by this. What do you think I should do? Why do you think he did what he did? I think I'd be good for him because we have a lot in common. How should I tackle this one?

It sounds like he is having problems with his other girlfriend and is looking for someone to run to (to have as a backup) in case it fails...
He's covering his bases because apparently he is a "needy" guy when it comes to having a girl
Quite pathetic really. I say don't even bother with him because these actions are proof that he isn't worth it
