I want to start the "lower-case 't'" title loan company, and use the crucifix for our symbol. I think people would recognize it.

I would like to grievously appologize to everyone I offended by using the term "copyright" instead of "trademark" and to the families affected. I am not an anti-semite, sugartits.

Actually, you can trademark that image provided that no one else has prior rights to it within your industry.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name and/or logo are truly available.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in their elemental design (e.g. crosses, crosses with men, etc.) in the pending & registered Federal trademark files. Then, if clear, you can file for a Federal trademark.

I assume that by copyright you mean trademark. The answer is no. You cannot trademark symbols that are in widespread use.

the word you are looking for is: TRADEMARK...
