f dental work is traumatic for the mouth/ jaw....you have a bit of trauma from the dental work resulting in swelling , just apply ice on and off for 15 - 20 minutes at a time.. and take some Motrin or ibuprofen which will help with any pain and swelling since they are anti informatory it will most likely start going down by late today or tomorrow...feel better!

this is normal especially if you had extensive dental work done such as cavities or a root canal,..don't worry it should subside in a day or two. Best things to take are ibuprophen not Tylenol for inflamation and swelling and keep some of buy some anbesol for safe measure as well. But be wary if it lasts more than 4-5 days then contact a dentist to ask him pertinant questions regarding your situation.

to make the effects of 'Novocaine' go away quicker and to help heal the area brew some tea and make sure it warm not hot and hold it in your mouth then swallow it, it does two things the tannic acid in tea helps heal and the warmth helps you regain blood supply in the area quicker so it runs the 'Novocaine' out fast.....as for the swelling....depending on how much work you had done it can swell because lets face it they are using sharp instruments on very delicate tissue...just use the warm tea solution but if it doesn't get better in the next day or so call your dentist and tell them whats going on they may suggest an otc (over the counter) gum desensitizer. oh, if you want sugar or honey in your tea thats fine too...and fyi coffee doesn't work

You might have a infection call your dentist and let him no what is going on. He will most likely call in a antibiotic presciption for you that you will have to take. If it is painful let him no that also. Until you contact your dentist place a ice pack on your face in the swollen area to make the swelling go down. I hope this helps and that you start feeling better.

I've had cavities filled before and my numbness lasted for only a day. It wasn't even the entire day. Maybe you should contact the dentist. One thing I usually do to reduce swelling is put a hot towel, as hot as I can stand it, on the area. :-)

You just had your face drilled...expect inflamation and swelling. Unfortunately they both cause pain. Pain relievers and ice are your best bet. If you wait til the pain gets really bad...the drugs and ice may not help. Besides the typical pain...beware of infection...if the pain persists for days and the swelling becomes worse...you may need antibiotics. Follow the Dr.'s recommendations to a T and you'll prolly be fine.

Its completely normall, it might take several days for swelling and tenderness to go away. A lot of it might be from the shots they gave you for numbing.

If it is after 24hrs. U can rinse with warm salt water, and try taking Motrin if u r not allergic to it. Take it every 6-8 hrs. It helps with inflammation. Also try a warm compress (alternate iton-&-off) for 30 min. I use to be a dental asst. Good luck, babe!
