I think it's really unfair...sure i'm only 13 now and i was born in 1993...but i no that kids once they turn into a teenager thats what they look forward to as a teenager. i no it will minimize death rate in teen drivers, But people have jobs that they cant get to without transportation! Does anyone think that instead of people born after 1990 it should be people born after 2006 that cant drive till 18?

Several states have qualified junior operator licenses already, so I don't see why someone wouldn't try to get rid of them altogether. But they would have to allow the ones who already have them to keep them.

AS FOR PROOF: THEY MAKE THE LAWS, THEY CAN DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT TO DO. As an example, when they raised the drinking age fro 18 back to 21 in the early 70's, they did it as a grandfather law, ie 19 first year, 20 the next and then 21 from 3rd year on. It seems fair that way unless you think about the poor kids born so that when the law went into effect were about to turn 18. Their slightly older friends could drink for 3 years while they could not do so legally.

As everyone is saying, you have to check your state law. I know it doesn't seem fair, but statistics show that those under 18 are responsible for a huge amount of accidents; apparently the maturity level is not there yet. I will say, most of the teens in my neighborhood shouldn't be allowed to drive -- they are very dangerous. But, then so are many of the 80-year-olds.

I don't know, but it does make since. Anyone born after 1990 is still in their early teens, preteens, or toddlers and shouldn't have a license yet.

it is being debated in several states, the statistics show the 16 year old driver is a hazard. some states Hawaii I believe is one have a restricted D.L. for those under 18. they can't drive at night and stuff like that.

I heard that they want to do that 'cause they think that it will keep high school kids in school and stop them from dropping out...I just heard it on some TV show a while back. I'n not sure if its true or not.

Driving age limits are state level laws and not federal. What state are you talking about?

I've heard that someone wants it to be the law in California, but I think it was just being voted on.
