From what you have said so far, you have already gotten a real good start. Any legal action against a person accused of stalking requires that the person to have been given a legally recognized warning to stay away from you, leave you alone, and to not contact you in any way, shape or form. Examples of legally recognized warnings of no contact is: No Trespassing signs displayed in a way or manner that a reasonable person can see them and know to stay off of your property, having told the person verbally to stay away from you in the presence of a Law Enforcement Officer and that Officer write a report acknowledging he or she witnessed such a communication (to later be used as evidence in a court of law, should you need to carry this that far). While this is going on, you need to keep very detailed notes about where you are, and what you are doing when you "run" in to this girl out in public. Include dates and times and who you were with. Make sure these people hear you say again to her, that you do not wish any further contact or trouble from her (to also be used as evidence in court later, should that become necessary) .

You may be able to take action on your own. Contact the magistrate in the area in which you live. He or she should be able to explain to you your states laws regarding stalking.

Here in North Carolina, where I live, we do have an anti-stalking law. Unfortunately, the law is new enough, that I have not yet learned how it works, and to what extent it offers relief and protection to victims of stalking.

We have also expanded the 50-B Domestic Violence laws to now include a 50-C Protective Order. The 50-C Protective Order is designed to protect you from people with whom you have had an acquaintance, but not a personal relationship, who will not leave you alone.

Good luck to you. The thing about stalking is, for as much as you have the right to not see this girl anymore, there are going to be limits to what you can do in a public area. If you see her in a store, or some other public place there isn't going to be much you can do to stop it, she has civil rights as well. As long as she isn't committing a crime against you or contacting you directly she will be covered by the law.

You have a very aggravating situation on your hands. The police are right about not being to do anything if she's not harming you or damaging your property. Try ignoring her. If that doesn't work, have witnesses to substantiate that she is following you around. Have her trespassed from your home and work. If she calls, don't answer, let her leave a message. Save it and take it to law enforcement. If she approaches you when you are out, ignore her. If she makes a scene, call the law. You are going to have to catch her in the act. Make sure that every act that she commits against you is documented. Have independent witnesses who can verify her actions. She will eventually slip up and when she does you will have documentation to prove that this has been ongoing harassment. I know that this sucks but this may aid in getting a stalking protective order. With stalking, it has to be proven that this person is coming around you after being told not to for the purposes of harassing and/or intimidating you. You have to express fear for your safety. Don't have any friendly communication with her. You have to send a consistent message that you want NOTHING to do with her. It won't look good for you if she has your number on her caller ID. Just do this and you will be on your way to ridding yourself of this nuisance. Whatever you do, don't let her provoke you into any type of physical or aggressive encounter. This could be a set up. Be careful and observant. Don't be afraid to make multiple reports to law enforcement. They are there to protect and serve.

The police are not responsible for eveyone's issues. Their job is not to make us comfortable.

If you want to get this solved, contact and attorney and get a restraining order. (you might be able to get one without an attorney but you would have to check on your local laws ie. county court).

With the restraining order in place, the police will respond to any violations of the order.

Best wishes

This is the time to let the cops know that you have told her numerous times to leave you alone and she won't and that you want to file a restraining order against her and if the cops won't do anything then its time to call the attorney general and report the cops.

well in my case it would be guys ok. My advice to you is that u change your technique in the way u treat her. Be more agressive to her, show her that u mean business and not that u like it ok. Show her that u ain't care and play like she ain't exist. When u play her game she will definately leave u alone. Figure out why she stalkin u and from there u would figure out what to do

Wow! She sounds seriously messed up. Try and confront her in front of other people, maybe she'll feel embarrased. It's a tough one...

IGNORE her! say nothing to her and do nothing to acknowledge her in ANY way; if this doesn't work...beat the hell out of her.
