I don't know Greek, so I can't translate. But when I study Revelation (and any other book), I have an Interlinear Bible and my Strong's Concordance with me to check on certain words and thier meanings.

I have read and studied a book that deals with the interpretation of the book of Revelation. Revelation is full of prophecy, and a lot of symbolism which contributes to the mysteries locked up in the book of Revelation . As far as retranslating, nope.

there is no book of Revelations
it is the book of Revelation (no s)
when you say better understanding... can you elaboate

for the Bible, I prefer essentially literal transaltions like ESV or NKJV and consider them good choices

translating a book yourself... not sure if its a good idea... the schoarship in most translations is excellent and it comes down more to the translational style and the original text traslated form as the issue... if you DYI then you will porbably make a translation to your preconceptions and it will not be helpful

you can always read the original if you know enough to read greek or hebrew and traslate it... and some do... but for most people the help of a transaltion is invaluable

Congrats for the understanding. I don't know or would I trust anyone that translated the book of Rev by himself.
This is why I use the tools I use to understand the Word. Trust no man, but, God, Himself.
