That when I recieve an email from one proclaiming to be a Christian that is insulting I can use what I learned from Christ (not being a Christian I might add) to respond without being ignorant? Why don't more people adhere to Christ's teachings in Matthew 7?

Some ppl aren't really Christian. I respond to e-mails and I don't curse at all unless the person is threatening my life or something. I mean, I would rather have a normal discussion rather than a cursing /profanity screaming contest. If you use God's words without being a Christian, then why not just become one since you already use Christ's teachings?

Isn't it funny...?

That when people ask silly questions they get silly answers (not being Christian either I might add) and think that by putting down Christians they are doing a favor to the world?

The bible is meant ONLY for humans' moral values. It is a good way to keep oneself in check with reality as long as you leave behind all the spiritual hoo-ha. I'm not trying to judge you, I just think your question was pointless and that is merely my opinion. Not trying to be mean either. If someone is upsetting you with what they say about religion then I don't believe you should counter-attack with something they claim to know so well. Maybe try leveling with them as a real debate would, with facts and all that good junk back and forth instead of attempting to make a fool out of them.

Ciao!

The big issue is why in America can we not have philosophy? Why do we need a church structure around our life teachings? I got more out of the Tao of Pooh than I ever got out of the new testament. Religion is a pyramid scheme. They all encourage the followers to 1) bring in new members and 2) have a family. I was raised Christian but see it somehow encourages terrible ignorance. Judaism and Islam have a scholarly tradition almost absent from Christianity. But all three do no real long term good, just builds walls.

Everyone is on a different level in Christ. Just saved, been saved for years.. those that are more religious out of routine or upbringing and those that arent so religious but Love the Lord and thrive on his word. Lots of people say they are Christian but have no idea what it really means... If someone is ranting and raving and acting like a jerk or acting self righteous , then they have missed the mark...

There are people that claim to be Christians that don't even know where to find Matthew 7 in the bible.... that's just the way it is, some things will never change.

It is because Jesus is God and we are a people of unclean lips:

"For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
-- Colossians 2:9

"Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?"
-- John 14:9

"Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you Before Abraham was, I AM."
-- John 8:58

"There are three essentials of the church: acknowledgment of the divine of the Lord, acknowledgment of the holiness of the Word [Bible], and the life which is called charity" (Divine Providence n. 259[3]).

If they are insulting... then they didn't go thru much of a change in their conversion. Maybe the holy ghost hasn't visited them yet. You know, he's got a lot of work running around giving all of these people different doctrines.

Because they are too smart for christian doctrine which is a luxury religion only for choosen people and history's worst mistake.
