I have been putting it in maybe once or twice a week (for only about a few minutes to a half hour) so that it wont close up. It has been a month and it is still there.

P.S.- I have been wearing a plastic one and I just got back from the dentist who says I have no tooth damage from it.

I've had my tounge ring for 4 yrs also, and once I took it out for 3 weeks and it did not close up. So I don't think you will have a problem.

After a few months.....it will close up or get so tight that it will be very painful to get out. I took mine out at the dentist and forgot it for months and now, i can;t get it back in no matter what I do.
