Yeah it is sad.
I have seen so many pro israeli comments on here. Firstly they don't bother looking back into the history of the region to understand why this is occurring. They think "terrorists kidnapped two soldiers, fired some rockets, and that started it!!!".
Even if that was true, and there was no other relevant history, then their pro-israeli argument is still horrendous.
If two sides are in opposition, it does not mean that one is right, and the other is wrong.
If I am arguing that an orange is an apple, and you say its a banana, we are both wrong. Unfortunately, in the current climate, anyone who says anything against the wars in Iraq or Israel are abused as being anti-america, pro terrorist, left wing nancy boys, or whatever.
Im not sure what your televisions are telling you, but its lies, or at best biased.
A possible solution would be to redraw the boundaries as they were originally drawn. Israel has no business outside those boundaries. People talk about Israel as if it is some ancient and holy civilisation. They are 50 years old.
They were gifted the area as consolation for the atrocities in Europe, largely because no one wanted that many refugees.
Good question, I'm hoping to see some signs of sanity when I click send and check out the rest of the answers!!!
In the meantime, I wish everyone would talk to someone they fear everyday. Then the fear will go away.
My god, I just read the answers. We have people quoting TV news like its the journal of truth and justice.
I noticed a comment. "If someone was in a crowd shooting at you, would you shoot back or keep getting shot at?"
The answer is, I wouldnt shoot back you fool, for the same reasons why Israel is wrong - i'd get the hell out of there. My goodness, and you guys claim to be a Christian country?

General Sherman said "War is hell".He tried to talk his fellow generals out of joining the confederacy and starting a conflict that would tear the nation apart. He was right still is. War is no respecter of persons, in fact most of it's victims are the young , the innocent, the old and infirm. Israel is not the first or the last to be in this position. Extremists who commit acts of violence see themselves as heroes, but they are instead cowards. They hide among children in order to get people stirred up. If you were being shot at by a person in a crowd, would you shoot back or let the person keep shooting until they hit you? Yes the world is mad, has been for a long time. We've got to find the weak spot of these cold-blooded killers and put them out of business or we will be seeing more dead children, and we will be responsible for some of those deaths.

If the Lebanese did their job - this current situation would never have happen. Can you imagine having a terrorist group that is stronger than a country's army - that's what it appears to be happening in Lebanon. If the country's army cannot put down a terrorist group within the country - something is wrong and you end up having a country of terrorists. I didn't realize that the UN has had about 2000 of it's armed forces there - what were they doing? What have they done? Nothing as far as I can see. The whole place is a mess and the Israelis just want their people to live in peace and not have to fear suicide bombers or missile attacks.

This is the intended result of Hezbollah's tactics. You are upset with Israel and want them to stop. Israel is clearly trying to avoid the loss of innocent life, Hezbollah is trying to increase it. Anyone who really follows the news understands this. Israel drops leaflets warning civillians to leave an area, Hezbollah also gets a free warning as a result of Israeli consideration, Hezbollah either forces civillians to stay, or misleads them to do so, then begins launching rockets from the immediate area, knowing full well what will happen. Hezbollah is largely responsible for civillian death on both sides. you even said that they should be eliminated, and this is the only way to fight them if they are just going to hide and shoot. It sucks, but thats why they are clearly the bad guys here.

1) the world has to be sane before it can go mad and it never has been.
2) Under the Laws of Armed Conflict (This is the rules Military personnel are trained to follow to keep civilian deaths and unnecessary destruction of the civilian infrastructure to a minimum) It state that a civilian residence, businesses, hospitals, or church are not to be used for military purposes or targeted UNLESS that building is being used by enemy combatants in any form but its original planning or the civilians are given fair warning of that buildings change in status and a chance to escape. To put it in a nutshell, If a person or persons uses a church as a church then we can not target that church. If a Individual is stock piling or storing weapons in that same church or using it to plan or instigate hostilities from, or using it as a Command and control or communications center for enemy units. then it becomes a legal target. In Lebanon it is very hard to target any building or group of building with any non-combatant deaths or injuries because the Hezbollah cowards don't care if their own people get hit and use any building whether it has civilians in them or not. The Hezbollah cowards KNOW EXACTLY what they are doing and expect world opinion to bring Israel to its knees or to just roll over and play dead. THAT IS WHY THEY ARE DOING IT!!! Israel has little choice in its targets because Hezbollah's uses civilian buildings and businesses to stage and fire missiles/rockets from and they expect Israel to return fire on those same places but give the Lebanese civilian population no warning at all... Sounds to me like it is Hezbollah's fault for the casualties NOT Israels! Israel has the right to defend itself and if an enemy refuses to follow civilized rules to insure a lessening of civilian deaths and injuries IT IS NOT ISRAELS FAULT!!!

The only way to show the cowardly terrorists that shielding themselves with mosques, schools, and civilians won't work is to bomb them when they do it. Otherwise what incentive do they have to stop doing it? War isn't pretty or polite. Innocent people are going to get killed. This is one reason the U.S. is losing in Iraq. The military is too sensitive to public opinion and polls back home. It is up to the people who live in those countries that are being attacked to let the terrorists know that they will not put up with being used as shields. If the terrorist had to fight with honor and bravery they would soon give up or be defeated. Only by acting like women are they able to survive.

No more so than any other century.
As to the fighting in Lebanon, you're missing a fundamental distinction.
Hezbollah fires rockets at villages because they want civilian casualties. They intentionally target civilians.
Israel attacks Hezbollah to prevent civilian casualties, and doesn't intentionally target civilians.
War is always tragic, and civilian casualties are inevitable. The difference is that the Lebanese civilians are dying because Hezbollah won't let them flee the area and is using them as human shields. Israel is doing everything it can to avoid civilian casualties while Hezbollah is trying to do everything it can to increase civilian casualties.
Can you really not see the difference?

Whom is worse the Hezbollah intentionally hide among the civilians and then parade the Lebanese dead children before the world to gain support and recruits. You can't get much lower than that.

have you people gone stupid. listen to me carefully now, it is called "WAR", and innocent civilians die every time "WAR" occurs. what is it with you people that seem to think 'Der understand they want to protect themselves, der, but why can't they bomb only the bad people, der'. don't you think if that were possible, to only hit the enemy and always be guaranteed never to hit the innocent, even on accident, every country would do so? my god we would have killed all the al qaida terrorists by now, and not a single innocent Iraqi would have been harmed. for pete sake think before you open your mouth
