In the United States, where some people are clamoring that the laws are based on the Ten Commandments and this is a Christian nation, does anyone else appreciate the irony that so many courthouses have an image of a Greek or Roman Goddess (Themis or Justitia) on them?

Never thought about it - love it.
Of course the word "democracy" comes from the Greek. I guess, from what you've said, so does "justice".

The real irony is that our nation may be founded on Christian laws, but the Law does not save you, it only shows you your sin and your need for a Savior who was able to keep the Law perfectly.

We are only saved through the good news of the Gospel which is Christ crucified.

Romans 10:4Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

I guess that means we should that we should make the courthouses take down those images of the Greek or Roman Goddesses since they are promoting religion. I don't want the court to try to convert me into believing that ancient Greek or Roman mythology.

Greatly appreciated. Also, in Washington, every building there has zodiac signs in them. Virgo is also a goddess that is used in the architecture. On one of the buildings that many Christians love to point out has the "10 Commandments on it"... it's actually the Bill of Rights (which number in 10 as well) and there sits Moses, Socrates, etc... a huge mix of different philosophers and supposed men of greatness. hehe... I love this kind of stuff.

Jesus said there is one commandment: Love. He breaks it down into two commandments, loving God and loving your neighbor as much as you love yourself.

The Ten Commandments are all based on that one commandment of Love. The first four Commandments tell you how to love God, the last six tell you how to love your neighbor: i.e., if you love your neighbor, you won't cheat with his wife (adultry) , you won't be jealous for the possessions that he has (covetousness), you will honor your parents, you won't kill him, you won't steal his stuff, you won't lie about him, etc., etc.

The laws of this nation, and any other nation, are built on those ten commandments, which still boils down to love. And you call that a bad thing?

Not all religions follow bible principles and have adapted man made traditions. Court houses are not religions and are a part of a human government process that is allowed only by God but will be destructed by him at the appropriate time. Satan is the ruler of this world and in due time he will be destroyed. This irony that you speak of is not surprising and is foretold in the bible.

Last I checked US of A did not subscribe to a single religion, as there is this whole separation of church and state thing they have going on. So, while the majority of Americans might be christian, this is not a christian country...

Looooooove it! But then again when you consider that most Christian holidays are based on older pagan ones because as they expanded and "converted" others they had to adapt to keep the new followers following.
